i think paheli is a total waste of money... it in no way is as entertaining as raja sen describes.. nor it is worth speding time and money on... i fail to understand how raja sen feels it is worth viewing over and over again till finances support it... the songs are too many and too boring
People told me the movie was real bad... I was planning to skip it... Then I came across this review... I went only for the passionate convictions of reviewer... The verdict : BAD MOVIE, GOOD REVIEW, EXCELLENT REVIEWER... If he made me want to see a bad movie just because of his lyrical review maybe mithun da should hire him to write some for him... LOL
Very well written review. I saw the movie in Dubai and though I expected quite a lot from it, I must say I was not at all disappointed. Yes certain parts of the movie was slow and there were too many songs, but you can't really take your eyes off the screen and miss the vibrant colours of Rajasthan, the gorgeous ghagra cholis and jewellery! It was a sheer delight! And yes, it IS like watching an 'Amar Chitra Katha' folk story unfold beautifully before your eyes. I do hope people enjoy this simple and innocent movie, without analysing it too much!
i wonder why so much praise for this film. ok agreed amol has played with colors... but thats it! shahrukh and rani have have just been themselves, i meen good, and tried to save the film from crashing (lets hope)... i think it is shah rukh khan wasted! it was very difficult to sit through the film, esp in the first half, the entire audience was walking in and out of the theatre for smoke and popcorns and what not... the songs too are damn boring... i fail to understand what kind of audience has been targeted here???

If I am not wrong, the short story "Duvidha", was published in the early 70's. However, Girish Karnad had written this play "Nagamandala" long ago. I am confused as to which is original?? Who copied whom??
Anyways, Paheli is worth a dekko just for the beautiful Rani. She is superb in this movie. Rani is the best of all of them.
