This is hollowing the total govt. sector. in rly 27% of revenue earning is paid as pension, in govt. too biggest liability is DA linked pension, which is making our country insolvent each year, as such FM puts new new taxes on each person just to pay it. We become fool, feel that our money is going in development, but actually just feeding retired govt. servants and politicians with hefty bills of their medical too. Total loot of tax payers money can be seen.
Like other government Departments ,Railways also need to be overhauled and need to be passenger friendly.Privatization may be option but it won't be solution to all railway problems.
It was Lalu Prasad Yadav, and not Indian Railways, who made 98% ordinary express trains into Super Fast Express Trains, when he was Railway Minister. just to loot helpless passengers.

I happened to travel from Chandigarh to Delhi in Jan Satabdi on 9.4.18 and back on 12.4.18 by Chaid Car. In the back of each seat there is basket to keep news paper, water bottle etc.,75% of the seats in the compartments have torn off baskets and cannot be used. Many of the glass windows are broken(since months as can be verified)and nobody is bothered to replace them. I have taken photographs of the seat, but there is no provision to attach those photos in this.

Every time when there is an increase in fare Railways claims it is increased for better services. There is no better service visible.
pushpavanam ...how much money you got from private operators...each and every citizen in this country knows how much railways are far cheaper and comfortable to travel than your blood sucking looting noisy stinking private operators..
In our nation almost all government departments are corrupted and inefficient.Railway is one among them. But fare is cheaper in railways. One solution to the problems may be privatization. But then fares will skyrocket. In Mumbai metro rail operated by a private company charges Rs 40 for 11 KM, still they want to increase it to Rs 110. Matter is in court now.
