Privatise
by Ravi PV on Apr 23, 2018 02:52 PM

I know from experience that more than 80% of the railway staff are corrupt to the core.

IT's high time Govt. allowed private players in this sector. Privatization brings immense benefits to the customers. Classic example is the entry of JIO in telecom sector which has brought down call rates to virtually nothing.

In short, Govt. departments in our country = corruption, lethargy and inefficiency.

Malpractices by Indian Railways
by shyamal padhiar on Apr 23, 2018 02:49 PM

The above post is absolute correct. It is the public in India who don't raise their voice against any bad things. There are so many loots in Indian Railways, Superfast trains never on time still high charges. Agents taking allmost all tickets nothing left for general public. Toilets on station and in trains really hopeless. Food stuff provided onboard low quality and not on MRP.People should raise their concerns against govt. The loss of railways is due t their own only. If they are providing standard service and charges reasonably all people is agree to pay

by Rajveer Singh Pawaiya on Apr 23, 2018 02:48 PM

Not only that, the railways is charging the cancellation of waitlisted tickets booked online. It is irony.
Here is the true case of PIL which will be a real of all the public of India.

Dear sir

I congratulate you for writing this article in the 'Rediff'.

You would have included the vendor, who wander in the compartments, which also when there is threat of extremists everywhere. Once I asked a TTE is it nor your duty to push them out of the compartments during a travel he replied as if it is the duty of the policemen on duty.

Also allowing passengers who do not have a confirmed tickets in the reserved compartment is a open practice by the railways. They have made it a rule that during day even on the sleeper allotted to the confirmed passengers, passengers with un-confirmed tickets can sit and travel if they make an extra payment.

Once, we around 300 people of our samaj (Nair Service Society) booked tickets from Delhi to Amritsar and back whole with confirmed sittings which was traumatized by the rush and even ladies could not move to toilets during the whole up and down journey. I, being one of the passengers, submitted a complained to the Northern Railways and I had been replied that "your complaint has been forwarded to another office" successively by two railways authorities and the third one irresponsibly replied that "Since there was a festival on the route the rush was observed" just to some how close the issue.

Individual passengers, just do not have enough time to spend and approach the consumer forum and legal cells railways play according they wish and will. We must fight this together for which your initiative is

Like in airlines, let us introduce pvt players in Railways.
by surajit som on Apr 23, 2018 02:19 PM  | Hide replies

We need to create additional capacity. But -unlike in airlines-infra is difficult to create in Railways. Land acquisition(in airlines ,you dont need land),high capital cost etc. But let first open it to pvt players. Then it will be trial-n-error.

Yes it seems that all Trains are running late now.
I was supposed to travel to Goa thru Goa Express (12780)from Belagavi to Vasco on 14.4.2018. The expected time of arrival at Belagavi Station was 00.50 hrs. The train came at 03.15 hrs, 2.25 hrs late. Next day was also late by 2.30 hrs. on 16th morning same train left Belagavi at 06.50 hrs i.e. 6 hours late.

Diwali bonus for what Excellence or Losses ?
by Dharmesh Gupta on Apr 23, 2018 02:18 PM

Almost every year we see a new around Diwali that Railway employees will get X month's salary as bonus on Diwali.
Is this a joke, if railways is making losses and corruption is high then what is this bonus for ? Making Losses ? or being failed in preventing accidents ?
The height is when we see a message while booking thru IRCTC "xx percent of the fare is borne by common citizen", why are you putting it on common citizen ? why cant we use railway resources to become more efficient ? when will super fast trains sun super fast and reach on time ?
I agree that railways is still the cheapest mode of travel but partially because public will not accept increase in fare without significant architectural changes in the way railways operates in India.
