besides hard to push toilet knobs, it is a fight to open the sliding doors in the shatabdi trains. these are not at all man friendly leave aside ladies friendly. hope our railways and railways minister is listening.
same old coaches till date no changes done many countries say that India is superpower,,, than why Indian railways are not going to next level,, running with the same old engines and same old coaches no changes at all till date,, i see the same coaches till now from the time i was kid,,, when it will be fast when it will reach on time whenever i travel its late like an hour or more,,, i travel alot but every time the train is late... a piece of advice make the service better no problem paying more but the service must me up to the mark,, whats the use if we don't get what we paid for..,, sorry but its the truth,,, service is poor in every area not even satisfactory...
There is poor maintenance of the coaches. There was leakage in toilet in Duronto from Nagpur to Mumbai and one cannot use the toilet as water from the celing was leaking and falling on the head. Also attendants are keeping linens and sleeping in the passage at the entrance of the door and blocking the exit in the coaches. All special weekly trains from Nagpur to Mumbai are always running late .Railways should compensate for the same. But main reason for overcrowding of coaches is due to uncontrolled growth of population .this needs to be addressed and boards/banners/stickers to be displayed at public places for creating awareness among the people that is overloading the infrastructure in this country. Railways shall scrap superfast charges as the trains are not running on scheduled time. A complaint register shall be kept with TTE to lodge the complaint in the coaches & TTE of the coach be made responsible for the facilities in the coaches.
Govt is supposed to run the Govt and public service. Railway should be an amenity and should be profit based. I am sure if it privatised it would deliver much better quality as it does in USA, Europe and other 'human' like countries. It has been a failed practise in India with the 'largest' number of emloyees bullshit. We don't need those positions with no job to do and rather open a shop or clean hotel desks as the side/main business.
It's a well thought and well documented write up on mismanagement of "Indian Railways". Under "corruption" heading I want to add the recent telivised reporting of "India Today TV" on unfair practice of using skilled "Track maintenace team" for domestic support of the higher officials, during their official duty hours. The news reporter/anchor claims this is one of the major reasons for recent increase in railway accidents. Their claims were substantiated through video clipings of interview of some working trackmen. We all know similar practice is existing in many security agencies also. The irony is even by paying extra we are neither getting entitled services (catering & house-keeping are totally in horrible condion even for some "Rajdhani & Duronto" trains) nor a safe journey. Lagislators & Executives are enjoying at our expense truly for our indifference. I know this shameless system won't pay any attention on this protest also and they will continue with the ongoing practices.

One more incidence,railway open premium tatkal even though seats are available in general. Passenger end up paying 2x more if he/she fail to check regular fare.
