Hardworking
by HASIBULLAH Zeer on Mar 14, 2011 11:14 AM

You'll never succeed in idealizing hard work. Before you can dig mother earth you've got to take off your ideal jacket. The harder a man works, at brute labor, the thinner becomes his idealism, the darker his mind.

Hi Gali, I beg to differ... maybe not all, but most govt emplooyees are. They are also the people who take up more holidays in terms of non-productive man-hours.. if that were to be changed, guaranteed then that India would be able to overtake the likes of China and USA in no time at all.

Ashish, it wont happen. If a person gets a job thru quotas without competing for it, he will not value it, and will laze off, knowing fully well that he is GOING to be promoted too !!

All Indians are not hard working
by ASHIS SAHA on Mar 13, 2011 11:42 AM  | Hide replies

Most of the white collar workers and people who hold steady jobs in Central/State Govts. and PSU's are lazy; but that does not mean that people in India do not work. Millions of Indians working on farms, construction sites, housewives, drivers, masons,, domestic servants...the list goes on and on, are very hard working. If not, you guys would not be able to commute, eat, have electricity, etc. If Governments/PSU function, it is because of 10 % of the employees, who take on the burden of their non-functioning colleagues.

Most Indians are hardworking but people here, including Rediff, think that we are lazy because the lazy elites are only a small fraction of India. Most Indians toil very hard and get meagre returns for their work.
In Inida, people do not like to be called workers; they prefer to be called Managers, Officers, Executives, etc., but everyone who works for a living is a worker belonging to the working class. Which is why hard work does not get the respect it deserves in the minds of the elite.

You are correct my friend.. sad but true.. especially the hard working and the GROSSLY UNDER PAID LABOURERS. All this along with the artificial inflation which the govt. is not taking proactive steps for like increasing the supply side and storage mechanism of perishable products only compunds everyone's problems

The chow dairy are the worst people in our country. They are the first of the looters. Now they are in States commenting about work. Indians work hard but are not appreciated in India but are employed abroad due to their hard work

EARNED LEAVES AND HOLIDAYS IN INDIA
by Sudhir Dave on Mar 08, 2011 04:21 PM  | Hide replies

Goverment servants of any state of India,or of GoI and PSU do nothing and simply enjoy on working days. Entire system has gone to hell but State or Central or PSU are not worried. Country is paying heavily. Due to this nearly 60% population takes half meal, accommodation in the street and footpath, natural activities where ever space is avaiable and cloths are never washed. But Goverment is busy IN MAREAGA,NAREAGA,SCAMS,SCANLES AND ABSOLUTE INEFFICIENCY.Days are not far for us to face situation like Egypt and Tunia.

Dave & Saha are correct. By &large, the Govtemployeesboth state and centre PSU employees do not work at all. but millions of common man- construction workers, agri labours, cart pullers- do work very hard. In general, empolyees of yiny industries- non-unionised labor work very hard. Loaders - who load in the trucks - work hard.
certainly- when yr belly is empty u work hard. if u are over fed like AirIndia employees, Insurance sector employees - u neither work, and resort to strikes often. imagine the SBI officers/ employees frequently going on strike!

Sudhir & Kancheepuram you are both 101% correct. This is the shame of India, which the govt, is succesfully hiding from the rest of the world by falsely 'tom-tomming' that India is shining. There should be a mandatory public service of doin manual labour by al politicians for atleast 1 hour every month, and then they would have an eye-opener as to what the labourers in India have to undergo.....

Each white collar job is filled up after following rigirous selection processeither by the selection board/authority or the public services commission(central/State). So, donot think all the karmacharis are kaam chors.
