Each white collar job is filled up after following rigirous selection processeither by the selection board/authority or the public services commission(central/State). So, donot think all the karmacharis are kaam chors.
In India, govt staffs are having 5 years continuous leave.By this time ,they can go to foriegn & earn money also.Even when they are on duty ,they work for less than hour & chat with their co staffer. In school, all teachers are taking only one period ( 45 mins) in morning & one period in the afternoon class in a day.Which means they work for not more than 2 hours. So,govt staffs are god blessed?
Does this mean Americans and Australians work harder than us? PLEASE!!! We have so many American and Australian clients and they go on month-long summer holidays. Plus on Fridays, they either take off or work only half day, unlike we who have to work on Saturday and Sunday also.

See availing holidays is immaterial. While we are in duty what is the out put. Indians normally shows that they always work but their output is zero when we compare foreginers. While u work concentrate 100% while on holiday enjoy 100%. That should be the motto. Here are ladies are knitting sweaters while in office. This is a regular scene in govt offices during winter. HARDWORKERS NEW DEFINITION
Germany or U.K. doesn't figure in the list. Indians take less Holidays probably may be they want to en cash the leaves or their bosses do not permit them. In states like Bengal or Kerala every 2nd day you'd have a bandh or hartal. So when we have so many "holidays" why take leave!!
i think the survey did not include govt offices. they take coffee / tea breaks equal to 50% of their worktime. so there u go, india is out of that list if u consider only govt offices. but the private sector is really working hard. so keep it up.

i want to add that the so call PSU are in good profits, even if as per the gernal understanding that employees work for few hours only...
People may be hard working. But that is what matters at the end of the day. There is almost nothing to show for all that hard work. Its hand to mouth existence in india. They make you work 16 hour days - 6 days a week, and give you peanuts at the end of the month. I did that for almost 5 years in india. Now i am abroad and i work half as much and get paid 25 times. Its the system there that needs a revamp. Also the labor supply needs to be reduced and respected.
