Hardly working Indians
by ramamurthy natarajan on Mar 05, 2011 12:54 PM

Per capita out put is the eal measure of working.Mere presence in the work place cannot be considred as working.See any govt/quasi office one can see many empty chairs since he/she would be in the canteen or doing any personal work after singing the attendence register. Mostly people report well after the comencement of day's working hour.

Do Indians work hard?
by Namakkal Raghavendran on Mar 05, 2011 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

The survey is on a wrong basis. If you take productivity per person we are way below, Japanese, South Koreans, Germans, US workers etc. I have personal experience of working and studying in USA in factories there. What one worker does in a day there is equal to the work of 4 workers here, at the very least. Their punctuality is phenomenal. We attach no importance to time. We are only better compared to African countries where also I have worked.

Indians seriously lack dedication and loyalty towards the company which pays their salary.

Sadly its ironical in a culture with strong family values.

A huge difference between Indians and other top countries listed here.

hard work or united smart work make great.
by manoj kumar on Mar 05, 2011 12:40 PM  | Hide replies

west is great because of not just hard work but because they think smartly, work unitedly.
in india we never use technology to solve our problem. our mind is too much full of drug like cricket, poltics, dreamy relegion we have.
whats use of hard working coming from such people. in west or china and japan. they always keep society, city's interest first then start working backward from there. 24*7 they do it, live like that. in india we only have billions of sleepy people dreaming to be boss, hook or ckrook. whats use of such hard work.

Yeah 3 European countries were on the brink of bankrupcy - Spain,
Greece and Portugal. Americans came begging to India for orders. To be the world's 5th largest economy is no mean achievement in 20 years.

indians are indeed hard workers. leave out a few from the Govt offices. But we are hard workers who dont worry about holidays, weekends, personal life or of those who are close to us. But when ti comes to smart working, i am doubtful. Many of us are good at digging pits and filling it. Does it make us hard workers? we are yet to learn smart working.

The indicator taken is flawed
by kiran kumar on Mar 05, 2011 12:32 PM

I agree to the point that Indians work harder compared to most developed countries

No of leaves taken every year is incorrect parameter to judge this. There are sarkari babus, who put the leave letters in the office and disappear from there and when they are back the letter disappears. Not to mention about some of them who are as good as they are not on office. At the same time, there are working classes like farmers, labour classes where they toil 12-14 hours a day 7 days a week merely to make their ends meet.

5 day week
by m prasad on Mar 05, 2011 09:16 AM

In many countries people work on 5 day week. In India mainly 6 day week for many employees. This itself is 52 additional working days for Indians compared to forign countries.

Fully agree with you. They think they are the only patriots and whatever they say is truth. Even their body language shows they are highly arrogants in thier styles, delivery of dialogues. some one should show them their exact place on this earth.

Indians are very much intelligent and hard working compare to oth
by Kumar on Mar 05, 2011 08:16 AM  | Hide replies

Indians are very much intelligent and hard working compare to other countries is due to over population and high competition they are rewarded less for their intelligence and hardwork in India then with the same hardwork or less they are rewarded much better in foreign countries.

I just don't agree with you. Japanese have highest level of dedication and loyalty towards their company.

Japanese people die of hard work. They eat, sleep, work at office for weeks, don't see their families. This doesn't happen in any other country. I am ready to bet any amount on this.

I know an old japanese friend who has recorded 65 hours of work at a stretch before he had a heart attack and was eventually compensated by the company where he worked.

I bet no indian or for that matter any foreigner can ever survive in a japanese work culture.

Come out of your shell and face the world. Indians do suffer from inflated ego's. Side effects of booming economy.

Incredible India!

grammar mistakd
by sakar panch on Mar 05, 2011 05:41 AM

may be they classified india based on misundersting the english grammar. may be india was listed in "hardly working"

Jokes apart, I find it no surprise that India is among the hard working lot. There are lots of people who work very hard. Look at the farmers who toil, the cleaners who go down the drain - you can never see such toil in many countries.

But I do feel the hard work to earning is being considered here also - so appears that they work hard.

Two major reasons for working hard is low pay (for a similar task overseas), and lack of infrastructure (eg. man doing machines work).
