If You "Work Smarter and Harder" the result will be astounding - that is the "mantra" if India wants to be the real Number ONE in the World - something that has been bandied about easily.

I know an article with the title I mentioned above and published in the year 1989 dealing with the nuances of such "mantra".

Indians are Hard Working in foreign countries.
by chetan bhagwat on Mar 04, 2011 05:55 PM

Indians really work hard in foreign country and make better fortune then local people.
but here in India they are not as hard working.
I have observed higher IQ level in Indian clarical staff than many of the countries if it was matched with hard work it would have cerated wonders.

by rohit raheja on Mar 04, 2011 04:21 PM

Get real most of our govt. monkeys they dnt need holidays, infact who knows if they are in their offices even, after sigining in the morning once. Hard work should show in the overall customer expeirence ask around if you can't see it for yourselves what is the experience that is created for the tax payers.

on the other side the private employees one should only sympathise with them, since they are still they have judciously replicated themselves on donkeys, they chase the so called stupid consumer theory and create a scarce for everything visible in this world, and trhan happens corruption and inflation and finally the day will come when they will act as humans and realise that this is a futile chase lets start behaving like other western civilisations who work hard and party harder...

Indians are hard working
by Deepak Mohan on Mar 04, 2011 04:14 PM  | Hide replies

It is not surprising that Indians are most hard working people. This is always observed by forigners visiting our country. However europeans and americans are more systematic, efficient and proffessional in their approach to work. Therefore they get better results. And that is why most meniel repetitive and non value adding jobs are being outsourced to india. Because such jobs requires HARD WORK or slogging.

enormous population
by moeinitherium on Mar 04, 2011 04:13 PM

Our enormous population means that we cannot be choosers. We may be one of the most hardworking nations in the world but with so many mouths to feed we will always remain very poor. Only the rich businessmen will benifit as they will get cheap labour compared to their counterparts in rich countries

wrong information

In India, as per the employment act, for every 21 days worked, every employee is entitled for one day holiday which will be bifurcated as Casual and Earned Leave and Casual leave not exceeding 12 days a year. This is almost being practiced in organised sector. Garment manufacturing sector (in particular EOUs) are the blatant violators of employees benefits though they earn crores and enjoy many exports and tax benefits. Scoundrel politicians both in State and Centre incharge of Industries does not bother about the welfare of people working in unorganised sectors as its not remunerative post.
Holidays in india are not applicable to both state and central government employees as they have no control on their movements by their superiors as they themselves are flouters. Though the staff is not available in the seat from morning to evening, the attendance register shows Presence. Majority are always engaged in personal works. Still they feel, they are over burdened and less paid?

its not a surprise many employees in government departments when they retire, have accumulated leave of morethan six to eight months which is compensated as leave salary alongwith other terminal benefits to them.
