Country still in transition
by HDaswani on Jan 24, 2011 07:26 AM

India's transition requires more focus on becoming more domestic focused, while attaining global competitiveness. This curve, which was seen in many other countries that has developed decades ago, spurns from understanding what qualities from others make them more viable than what is available locally, and then finding means to better that for local consumption.

another point in this transition is it does take time for infrastructure to develop. Many factors have to be considered, and in a ripple effect, it has to start on places where density is highest, and ripple to other parts.

On transportation, with fuel rising, it is but natural for India and Indians to always find solutions given the scenario. Better use of Metros should be put in place, and more efficient vehicles be used.

With regards to electricity, the sudden growth in demand was not anticipated, causing said issue. It is thus vital that larger energy projects, which are already in place, be given its urgent pace to meet local demands immediately.

Agricultural technology should also be considered, given that greater income will mean greater demand for food.

What is the future?
by SKER on Jan 24, 2011 07:25 AM

Though India is a democracy, we have a set of c0rrupt politicians whom we are unable to remove. They come in shape of one party or other. All are the same. The issue is of the next generation getting into politics but they will also be c0rrupted by the oldies.

Something similar to Tunisia should happen here. It has affected Yemen. But these are Dictatorships... will it work in setting right Democracy?

This needs to be passed as new Indian Law.

China and many other countries of great economic power have shown good proof of why limiting population growth becomes a bad idea. It is therefore vital that India treads this water carefully.

Rather than limit population growth, it is better to find them as investments for the future.
