extreme greed cant be sustainable
by ratheesh raman on Jan 20, 2011 03:42 AM

though the articles caption was 10 times more scary than what the content, it was good info.

The bubble is what is of special attraction, first you let your few extremely greedy(agreed a bit of greed is good, but here the extreme) to go ahead with their plans to create the bubble. In this case the real estate, where the builders created a mess with it, and now expecting banks to do some 'humanitarian service', and govt allowed it to simply happen.

rightly pointed out most of the things are not affordable to the lower and middle-middle class people. a house is out of dreams for many. And now once the greed has set in the peer pressure forces people to go more greedy in what they do.
the scariest thing is when the poor, lower-middle middle class people take up the greed to the next level of corruption. till now a bit of fear is the only thing preventing it.
if it becomes impossible to stay honest and righteous with out extreme greed it is natural people will become extremely greedy.

Don't try to point finger. In that case, go to censusindia website and chk for yourself. In 1991, the total population was 0.85 billion, the hindus were 86%, the M's were 12.6%. In 2001, the total population was 1.18 billion, hindus were about 80%, M's were about 13%. The results for 2011 are yet to be come out. Now, do your maths between 1991 and 2001 and tell me who are producing more children....

FYI, basing on census between 1951 to 1981, the M's population was 10.43 to 11.7% of the total but then in 1991, it was 12.6% and in 2001, it jumped to 13%.

I am very wary of such articles which talk about fear, fear, fear. Another favourite pique is when such writers go ballistic with information we already know, problems we have been facing for decades now, and does not really provide solutions.

So should i feel afraid just because the reporter asked me to?

And what are we supposed to do next?

Continue to be afraid?

Shove this article down the writer's throat, and ask him to come up with something more useful.

Indians know what to be afraid of, so did their forefathers, and that is why they are still alive and kicking.

For my part, I will not be afraid because of someone's mundane rantings about teh world being in peril. All man made issues can be solved. it is just a question of whether we want to solve it or not, and whether we are willing to put in the hard work that is required to build a country.

Your attitude is fine but be careful - entire civilizations have disappeared because they did not heed warning signs - the Romans, the mayans etc have disappeared because they did not act to fend of the threats facing them. The writer is pessimistic.

optimists will a good life ,

a few pessimistic thoughts helps plan our savings , plan life for our kids ,....

so closing eye to key issues will secure ur present but it may inflict a deadly blow down the line.

so nothing wrong to plan ur savings or ur better future.

Mr.Ashok, you said it right. Never
was our country so cornered in the past from all sides. We Indians feel happy in being self-proclaimed tolerant beings of the world. Rotten fruits fall on their own. If not mended in time our country will see a Civil War for sure. Vultures of the world just sit and watch the grand fall.

Not a very bright idea .... do you think Indian women conceive immaculately? What about the men?

If at all there has to be population control, it has to be via education and incentives.
