India's growing economic bubble, will it burst?
by Magadi Raghunath on Jan 22, 2011 09:57 AM

A lot of what Shishir Bhate has written is true. One of the biggest problems that we face today is our attitude towards corruption, monetary, political, social and moral. one has begot the other. put very simply, we are no longer capable of feeling disgusted and outraged by corruption. when there is no outrage, no resentment, nothing will translate into action. I don't know if this is because of constant exposure to new and even more brazen cases of it or that we ourselves are not uncorrupted anymore. How many of us; take the bus conductor to task, when he gives a Rs.5 ticket instead of 10 and gives back 2/3 to you, pocketing the rest? IT starts from there all the way to the 1.76 lakh crores scam. The question is only one of degree, not of the CORRUPT and NON-CORRUPT

Its People of India Who Brought Thie Change
by Bhajiya on Jan 22, 2011 09:56 AM

This changeing face indian economy is not due to the economics of Lack Luster Primi Minister or Corrupt Bureocrates or Criminal and imorral politicians of India. Go to every corner and street of India and ask success stories of youth how much toil and moil they swited behind their personal growth and growth of the city how much tax is he paying to the government.

Its totally economics of peoples money and work done by the people of India. 35% of revenue is being generated by indins working abroad make this dream run of indian economy a reality.

some psychophant media always vieing to give credit to the government and their political masters in ministry who benefits them. They never give credit to the people of India who is paying price for this development and generating revenue creating opportunities for this tremandous growth.

Shame of Media and psychophants despite witnessing massive corruption by politicians they give credit to politicians and government. whereas Government is sleeping elephant Bureocrates are Dinasore of India.

This is India's century
by Gurjot Singh on Jan 21, 2011 01:12 AM

Things can only get better. We already have a Trillion plus Dollar economy. We are the power behind high technology. We have one of the largest and perhaps the finest army in the world. China will implode becuase of lack of freedom and resource but we will flourish because of our great democracy and all the freedom we enjoy. China we collapse because of aging population while India will flourish. This is India's century

the root cause of whole problem is our family system
by ashutosh gupta on Jan 20, 2011 08:24 AM  | Hide replies

Our family is biggest strength and our biggest weakness. We can go to any extent to save our family member even if he has been convicted murderer or rapist. and then comes next level of caste and then religion.
the whole indian mindset is based on family, caste and religion. We still are mentally living in year 2500 BC. We exist as an individual, as a family, as a casteist or as a religion or regionalistic society. We have never been able to lift it up to the state of an truly "Indian" mindset.
With such a mentality, our whole political, administrative, judicial and police system has become so biased that it doesn't work impartially or efficiently. Everyone only worries about himself and his family.
Such a mindset can never bring in major development or reform. We are seen as economic power because we are considered to be growing at the cost of our poverty: the so called cheap labour. When our cheapness goes, all the India shining would also go.
There seems to be no end to our parochial mindset. The only binding force for our country is religion; to be specific Hinduism.
And so our country is running only on the basis of faith and it is correct to say that the country is running because the God wants it to run.

Even religion is not the binding force. IT is greed, me and mine first. Religion, esp. hinduism does not teach us to be corrupt.

India should afraid of China not of itself. China is already a superpower and biggest threat to India.Only economic growth of 8% or 9% will not help India.

high inflation keep it up
by ratheesh raman on Jan 20, 2011 03:44 AM  | Hide replies

it was funny to note the unsustainable inflation mentioned by the author... who told it is not good! for earlier most govt policies couldnt empower women to take up jobs, due to patriarchial mode of society... now that the inflation is beyoned the roof it is impossible for income from a single source most of the families have both husband and wife going for jobs...it is only a matter of time before the children too join the gala. relax wait and enjoy (provided scam cash is available)

here we are not talking about the underprivilaged Indians. I was referring to famous middle class of India (who fyi is currently in well to do situation)

i can feel the sense of sarcasm and the bubbling jingoism in your comment...and if you really are from Lanka just go a wiki about the child labour and Srilanka.

South asia is same when it comes to matters of living standards. now very small nations have a better perceptional standards but that is after all perceptional.
Lanka is no europe right!

Problems of bigger nations can be understood by big nations.
