it has been concentrated in few hands who are in power..common man is cheated and has hardly benifited...Most benifts has gone to corrupt like Sharad Pawar,Raja,Kalmadi & corrupt corporates,babus............
Indian growth is jobless growth............It is daylight robbery by few

Just because some name there are marathi..you feel hurt...Shameful regional mind...Corruption is not confined to aregion it is more or less all India disease
Anna Hazre is an honest Marathi and be proud of him
I see many Indians just supporting one political party(madly). Congress or BJP or some other. May be it is time to find out the best in each party and support those groups in all the parties. But you dont need to be a IIT graduate to think on those level
The author has made very valid points..I wud llke 2 add a few more too..
First is regarding economic growth..It is true that the economic growth since early nineties has lifted millions of Indians out of desperate poverty..this is still one of the largest of such events in history. But still many more need 2 be lifted..the glaring INEQUALITY we see al around us,if not remedied, may lead 2 social unrest(eg Maoism etc)
Secondly, notwithstanding our demographic dividend, our POPULATION EXPLOSION will put enormous strain on natural resources such as WATER,food grains etc..this I think is a major potential source of future conflicts.
Thirdly,I think it is useless 2 blame the politicians, bureaucrats etc only for the mind - boggling corruption.I think as a society,Indians in general are becoming more corrupt(as Mr Magadi pointed out below),rude, abusive and never ready 2 accept mistakes or wrongdoings(js as an example if ur car gets accidently hit by another one and the mistake is clearly his,the probability is that he will come out and fight with u,the chances of his saying sorry being negligible).I think 'Aam aadmi' of today,if he were in a 'khaas' position wud mostlikely do the same thing..so the basic need is to reform core values of our society..

very true, attitude change has to happen. once there was an accident, my car being hit on the right side by an oncoming motorbike. His wife got injured and sitting by the road side but the guy is keen on fighting it out with me rather than taking her to a clinic !! Only when I pointed out this, and volunteered to take her to the clinic, he took his wife and sped away !! Arrogance has become order of the day and it is evident in ALL levels - from pauper to the rich & powerful !!
This article sounds caution but on the contrary I see a lot of opportunities. This again goes back to the pyramid structure. The growth at the top of the pyramid is almost done. The next level of growth will come from the middle and as the lower base moves to the middle. The author talks about the lack of jobs. The govt alone really cant provide jobs for the massive population. This is where the private sector can help. The need of the hour is controlled capitalism. The author talks about the fiscal deficit. Frankly speaking a developing nation cannot shy away from it.Where do you think will all the money for the social welfare projects come from.Fiscal deficit will continue if country needs to develop the poor.We cant even remove the subsidies. For all the talk of free trade if we look at the western countries,if we look at the amount of subsidies provided there, we will be surprised. Final comment, we need to a little more cautious rather than be afraid. The opportunities are begging to be taken.
If India doesnot control population nothing will improve. China did it first and then it started economic revolution. Thats why it's reaping the results today. It sounds inhuman. But humanly whats good happening in my bharat?
Measuring the tip of the iceberg to define its total size is the folly of economic models. Metric of GDP fails to reflect the reality of the country as a whole and cherry picky wealth based stories. It's high time to stop playing games and start addressing the plight of normal struggling people. The internal implosion is the biggest fear India should have. And given the knee-jerk nature of Indians it is simple matter of when.
