People need to wake up against wrong assumptions.
It is WRONG assumption that development CAN ONLY and only HAPPEN BY destroying TRIBALS lands and making them adopt their MODERN WAYS or their faith/etc.
Employment NEED NOT BE WHERE TRIBALS LIVE by ravaging tribal LANDS AND HABITAT.
There is so much space in Orrisa for proper development but leave tribals AND THEIR LAND alone.
JUST RETURN THEIR TAKEN AWAY LANDS FOR GOOD OR BAD PURPOSES.
Vedanta/etc did not spend 1 billion in slums of Mumbai for obvious reasons because he cannot tap money there by mining.

You cannot change your habits.
Why force Tribals to adopt your habits. Do you think the Vedanta guy would be good for people in Sudan or Slums of Mumbai? He knows how to provide kickbacks the legal way.
What do you think? I am returning back to jungle.
Reclaiming by lost tribal faith and habitat as well.
I have learned my lessons and would like to tell my fellow tribal what is learned about these various goody and baddy thugs.

You really sound confused. Jairam Ramesh is no Luddite (if you know what that means .... otherwise look it up). All he is asking is that there be due process and mining be done where permission has been granted. Those who do illegal land grabbing need to be put away behind bars and not defended in the name of development.
BETTER BEING JUngle animal than being SLUM OF MUMBAI or being landless labour of GEHTTO.
If humans stay off, SHARKS AND TIGERs live better THAN HUMAN life. THIS IS A FACT.
THESE tribals can survive even if humans become extinct because they have survived for 1000nds of YEARS WITHOUT YOUR TECHNOLOGY OR MODERNIZATION OR EDUCATION OR CIVILIZATION OR WHATEVER good these cheaters and land grabbers profess.

congis r playing politics in all states ruled by oposition and r hopping that everyone is blind of their tricks......one day all this is going to backfire nd instead of making a majority govt to hand over to the prince raulbaba they all will be sitting ducks in oposition.
MOFE is not consistent in its verdicts. Anyone heard of Poolavarm project in Andhra? The project (if implementd) will destroy thousands of acres of forests and displace thousands of people inlcuding few vilaages in the neghbouring state of Odisha. How come this project got clearance??? I am not advocaing for Vedanta, but any poltiicisation of this issue will backfire the Congress party. Today Tribals in Odisha are more empowered than 10 years ago, thanks to to visionary welfare schemes initiated by Naveen Pattnaik government. Politics of Congress party will do more damage than any good.

your assessment is correct. The govt is working to protect the group who has almost monopoly in oil and gas sector of india and to safe guard thier interest tis is a arm twisting act by govt agency on behalf of those vested interest

Oh please, lets face it Vedanta has been trying left right centre to get a foothold in India by hook or crook. It hasnt worked so why are we all so upset anout one company being given the boot? Why aren't the people who dodnt want Vedanta on their land being listened to? Point is no matter what Senior fellow says or whether he gets his millions propogating about Vedanta it isnt going to change the fact what Vedanta did.
