Contradiction
by amitabh kumar on Aug 26, 2010 04:03 AM  | Hide replies

isnt it strange ,o none hand the author says that the interpretation of statutes is a responsiblity of the courts and on the other hand he doesnt mind sitting on judgement on the whole issue . Is it your (i suspect ,vedanta's as well )case that since there had been a considerable delay in decision and work had already been started ,hence violations may be allowed keeping in mind the expenditure already incurred . Is that the arguemnt Mr. Senior Fellow from orissa .

well said, Mr. Kumar, this so called "senior fellow" is a paid pen pusher for vendanta...

I am really amazed at the ignorance of people... haven't we paid a price enough so far for the rampant deforestation and degradation of our natural environment...

Why dont u shift base to america or china, MR. senior "vendanta" fellow, please leave india and orissa lone...

Vedanta and its promoters have a very sady background! Sterlite's smelters have ruined the ecology in Tuticorin-Tamil Nadu and Yercaud hills too!

Agree a 100%. It's no secret that many ex-bureaucrats are on Vedanta's payroll and Mr Mohanty sure seems to be one of them! He does'nt seem to have read the Saxena report or even visited teh place and spoken to the tribals himself.

You dont know Nilamadhab Mohanty. He is a very distinguished person. Incidentally, people who talk about being in Vedanta's pay have made their life being in pay of NGO groups

Vedanta issue: A few disturbing questions
by raman govindan on Aug 25, 2010 10:58 PM

it may result that none will venture into a new major project in aluminium, copper, iron & steel, power, port, airports and major industries in any part of india.

the Govt. of India may have to give sovereign clearance to the undertaking and back it up from the initial survey, to the completion of project and to the marketing of products and logistics and insure against loss for any reversal of decision and impediment to the execution and the profitability.

It rains in People's Republic of China.

Soniaji
by Mona Shah on Aug 25, 2010 10:14 PM  | Hide replies

It is time Soniaji assumes PM ship of India aided by the able Rahulji as Dy PM & Priyankaji as HM. She is the true Iron lady of the world & the only silver lining in the murky indian politics.

She has the attitiude, calibre, deligence & competence to take India to superpower status by 2025. Rahulji & Priyankaji too have been perfectly grromed under her mentorship to give India the thrust towards its goal of superpower status. It is time BJP merges its party with Congress.

Wake Up Call
by Manoranjan Sahoo on Aug 25, 2010 10:10 PM

Its bizarre to see union minister is thinking Tribal’s of Orissa will remain under developed always. WRT Vedanta Union Govt could have instructed to do…
1.Put same amount of forest in other area of state how must forest land you are going to occupy.
2.There should be certain percent of reservation to employ Tribals looking out their qualification and the kind of work they can do if they are not qualified.
3.Putting any special skim to settle them ASAP those who will get rehabilitated.

About the Rahul Gandhi visit to Tribal area…lets hope to listen some special package for Tribals for their development. if there is nothing. it’s a Rubbish call for Cong Secretary to Visit Tribal for a shake rather doing anything for them if he is thinking I always care Tribal and work for there development..

This is demanding a debate among all Major parties…”When tribal’s will come to main Stream of Countries growth”

Mining in Orissa

Things are not as simple as they are made out to be. The way the case has been handled gives rise to suspicion that there must be some behind-the-scene machinations.

You are right. Now Rahul Gandhi is visiting to Oriisa. He will have some deal with BJD and then the same jaram ramesh will clear the project with some bull shit excuses. Now let us go back to the sterlite factory at Tuticorin. So much hue and cry was made about enviorenmental pollution by some party and the factory was closed on sevral occasions. Now the factory is running in teh same way as it was running and no hue and cry is made. the so called enviorenmental talk is only to fool public. If we are very concerned about teh enviorenment then first of all let us have a full fledged under ground drinage system in evey town. How many town we have the drinage system.
