We need to privatize AI. That is the best option.

AI will never be profitable if it is run by any government.

And as a Tax payer I want my money to be utilized, not wasted !!!

Businesses are accountable to the share holders. They are regularly audited by 3rd parties.

Their image and integrity is key for their survival as a business.

ACCOUNTABILITY is the key difference between Private and Public run organizations.

Also, there is no incentive to perform well and there is no stick for bad performance.

People struggling to earn a square meal a day and the government is spending 1000 crores and more to revive a dead company!!! what percentage of the population use air as a means of travel??Surely there are better amd more fulfilling ways to spend hard working tax payers money...the government should be taken to court for "wasteful expenditure"..Air India---National pride??? what a joke!!! Especially when children are dying 'coz of malnurishment and hunger and the minimum wages for the flagship "NREGA" programme is a measly 100/- per day??? entire naton's farmers loans was waived off and it cost just 60000 crores and "saving" Air India will cost 15000 crores!!! Jai Hoo!!!!

Stop traveling Air India...
by imran patel on Jul 07, 2009 07:22 PM  | Hide replies

Here is a good solution to run Air India out of business.

Do not travel Air India. There are better options.

There is nothing patriotic about flying Air India.

It is a waste of hard earned money that is needed elsewhere.

Liquidate Air India.
by imran patel on Jul 07, 2009 07:19 PM  | Hide replies

The only solution to better utilize Tax payer money is to liquidate and auction Air India.

The Civil Aviation Minister, MR. Patel, needs to realize that he works for the PM who is accountable to the Tax payers of this country.

By subsidizing and throwing money at AI, the tax payers are at a loss. We are not getting anything in return.

This is a total waste of Tax money.

As I have always said, it is not important who is running the government, but it is more important to define the role of government.

We have now the government involved in,

- Running Air Lines
- Distributing rice at Rs. 3/Kg.
- Running educational institutes.

Look at the quality of politicians we have. Be it the Cong or the BJP. I cannot trust them with Rs 10 of my hard earned money.

So how can we leave them with thousands of crores with no accountability and transparency.

We get what we deserve. We have a bunch of crooks running the show, because we just do not care. We are not interested in BJP Vs Cong as oppose to what policies are best for our fellow citizens.

Look at the statement minister is making,
He was there for last five years and now he realises there is a problem with management of AI.. (We are going to bring high quality people of great integrity and people with a proven track record in business," Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said in New Delhi.)

Let the govt. define themselves and make it more accountable for taxpayers money..

5 directors!!!!
by Viswanathan ES on Jul 07, 2009 07:13 PM  | Hide replies

Praful must be joking about cost reduction when he proposes 5 directors to man Air India. His fellow minister Lalu did a decent job of Railways which is far more bigger. And 9 committees to study the obvious reasons for the rot of Maharaja. Manmohan, is this the governance under an economist like you?

We have quite a few over-rated politicians who are darling of media. You will not know how shit they are until they make a big mess. here are the examples
1. P Chidambaram - made a mess in finance
2. Praful Patel - made a mess in aviation
3. Kapil Saibal - trying to mess in education

All these people talk big look intelligent - but they make mess of whatever work they do.

P Chidambarm is resposible for all the mess for the middle class salaried people with his taxes in his various tenure as FM. FBT - how foolish can any FM get. There is no check n balance in our system, ministers are their own dream world where they take decesion like a dictator..

Aviation minister - he is also responsible for the mess that AI is in. He is no saint that he thinks that he got another 5 year terms for whatever he want.. well, he must be learning from his party leader. most corrupt and power hungry one.
