Spare the State- Chief Minister
by vishal singh on May 24, 2007 04:29 PM  | Hide replies

This Government is gonna take UP back to pre historic times and will ruin whatever little chances the state had to come up to the level of Punjab or Gujarat. Officials will be suspended or transfered for bad upkeep of Ambedkar Park but no action will be taken for all other corrupt activites as they are being patronised by this corrupt government.

It is Rajniti

The real thing behind scrapping Reliance SEZ is Anil Ambani´s friendship with Mulayam singh and Amar singh...It is a part of Rajniti---To destory the fort of enemy, starts from enemie's friends and strengths. And may be another step would be to raise tax on movies from Amitab Bacchan and party which were mostly tax free during Mulyam raj.
Mayawati will surly recommend SEZ sooner or later but only where her own interests meet. Thats it.

Mayawati Please STOP PUSHIING UP BACKWARDS

Dear Nice
looks like you are one of the best people to decide what is good and what is bad for people of UP thank to the Grand Lady called Mayawati who is just a worshipper of Maya(Money)
I remember my school days when she was being promoted my BSP chief Kanshi Ram she was not from such an affluent family nor she had income source to make such a big empire for herself. Its all public money being siphoned

She is not doing anything for UP she is just trying to settle her scores with Mulayam Singh & Amar Singh..

We all in UP know that how badly we need more power supplies
UP has power scaricity and then stopping or delaying the projects means pushing UP backwards

We all know Air Conditioners are affective in closed rooms but Mayawati in all her election campaigns while addressing the public gathering had Air conditioners fitted to the open stage

the day she moved in she transfereed 100s of IAS & IPS officers

was that needed

I think we should not support this kind of a leader

Who ever is opposing SEZ is being branded as against development. Please ref to Mr Rahul Bazaz'a apeech at Perliament where he described SEZ as a pretext of land grabbing and getting tax benefit. IF that is not enough, please refer this 'SEZs' role in job creation open to question: WTO '(http://www.hindu.com/2007/05/24/stories/2007052405841900.htm)

RE:Another state turning WB, KErala way.

Roothless - while I am not commenting on WB, I have the following to say about Kerala

1. Kerala ranks 1st in literacy

2. Kerala tops the tourism map

3. Kerala tops for its landscape and secularism

4. Kerala's agricultural production increases every year

5. Kerala's size with its tourism locations and agricultural lands, does not provide enough space for major industries to be set up. Since the maximum students are highly qualified and lacking the right employment in Kerala, they migrate to other states/countries and develop their career successfully thus providing financial assistance to their homestate.

If you have missed a story appeared in Rediff a couple of days back, then read it again (URL below) on Kerala's present CM Achuthanandan and the industrial initiatives continued by him as also the stern action taken against the land grabbers, demolition of illegal multistory buildings (owned by his own party members), costal land grabbing mafia etc.

A CM, whichever party he belongs to, who has the right vision about the state's development will definitely do his duty irrespect of the resistance and oppositions...

TVR Shenoy's column - The Chief Minister, who is making a difference. http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/may/22flip.htm

SEZ vs farmers
by brahman on May 24, 2007 04:18 PM

while Industrial development is essential for economic progress, agriculture cultivation is the livewire of any progressing country. The government should understand that the SEZs should be created in non-agricultural lands and remote places, by providing long term tax holidays and incentives to the industries, thus encouraging the large corporates to take part in industrialisation. by taking over the agricultural lands forcibly from the farmers, government not only reducing the agriculture cultivation/production, but also making the farmer's lives miserable.
Industries cannot produce paddy, rice, vegetables etc. for the day today living of people.
These measures should be taken step by step... to begin with we need to have more number of schools, teachers, infrastructure, facilities and the will and wish to make every child with minimum education (ofcourse free of cost for the economically backward without caste and creed), followed by hospitals, transport, colleges, SSIs, irrigation, power, etc.
Lakhs of trees are being cut every year, legally and illegally. Deforestation, we all know, would adversely affect the weather, rainfall, thus badly affecting the industries and cultivation...
Forestation should be another major task of the government, which could be to some extent achieved through the corporates...

these are only some of the thoughts came in to my mind, before we make hue and cry about SEZs which are self-centred and beneficial for the time being to certain privileged wealthy corporates and their honchos.
