This is bad for industry.. No one will be interested to invest in UP unless Mayawati changes her mindset.. Installing Ambedkar and Kanshiram statues is not going to provide employment to youth of UP, industries have to start.. Mulayam govt terrorised investors now Maya also started same old game.. Mayawati, wake up, people have given you majority to make their lives easier not to ruin them..

You have to realise that without industrialisation and non-creation of jobs has made youth get into mafia and goondagiri in UP. Government can't run every family in the state by giving rewards, subsidies etc., even for that you got to get revenue from various taxes..

Your decision with land allottment is perfect but think twice before making any decision on scrapping industries projects weather its from previous government or present plans..

Prashanth - it seems you have more details about Mayavati's plans than the article has... Did she say that she is deciding on scrapping Industries projects? R u recommending the SEZ to be given to Anil Ambani...
according to me, Mayavati has taken the right decsion of scraping the SEZ (at least for the time being) given the atmosphere in Nandigram - even Maharashtra is yet to decide on SEZ in Mandwa/Alibag (again Reliance). Whatever measures the Government initiates, if that adversely affects the common man / farmer is not the right way to do governance.

Mr...(Brahman)
You can't compare Nandigram case with that of Noida. Here the conditions are totally different. Here very less resistence shown by farmers/common man for Noida SEZ and this SEZ is officially accepted and supported by the Mulayam Singh government where as Nandigram work is still in the process and hardly accepted by anybody.
Here it's not a case of thinking in support of or in against farmers' future, here is only hardcore political rivalry, which is Mayawati doing excellently and will continue to do so....
Hats Off to Mayawati's Maya and UP/Bihar's Politics!!!! [;-)]

Well said Prashanth. This Government is gonna take UP back to pre historic times and will ruin whatever little chances the state had to come up to the level of Punjab or Maharashtra. Officials will be suspended for bad upkeep of Ambedkar Park but no action will be taken for all other corrupt activites.

SEZ ARE A PROBLEM IN EVERY STATE EXCEPT GUJARAT. HERE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF ECONOMIC PROSPERITY. PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES TAKE GUJARAT AS A COMMUNAL STATE BUT IT IS NOT SO. I AM MYSELF A NON-GUJARATI & I PROUDLY SAY NO STATE ACCEPT AS GUJARATIS DO.

In gujarat, SEZs came up on barren land and not prime agricultural land (as in case of Nandigram in WB or Raigad near Mumbai or in villages near Gurgaon).... development is required but not by snatching peoples' land for a pittance.... I am npo suporter of either Mayawati or Mulayam, but I agree that development should be all inclusive and not just fot the tatas/ Ambanis

Unable to understand, Can agriculture alone increase living standard of masses. Can you produce land in the air for industrial development.

It is the political rivalry which has slowed down the country's economic growth. All over the country, it is same.

land for industries

I am a bitter critic of Mayawati....but here this looks good
This is a good decision,,the company wanting lands to construct factories dealing directly with the farmers in purchase of lands..it would give them the market price..and no more bulldozing of government in capturing private lands for industrialists...goood policy decision....good show mayavathi.

Dear Try to understand,

By this decision mayawati or another politicians will purchase that land and then try to sell it. So, it is not good for the farmers. It happens most of the cases where any highway or industrial area developed.
