Question is not how many are unemployable, question should be why such a talented pool of people majority of them who sacrificed their every leisure time, critical hobbies and even their overall personality to some extent just to focus better on getting admission into the best engineering or medical college.

Did you ever dig deeper into the curriculam of indian engineering colleges and even schools for that matter, have you ever compared what they teach in indian schools vs what the western and more advanced economies teach in their schools. Forget about the top creamy layer even the B grade technical schools in developed world have far more advanced and hands on research and development projects.

Indian government and Indian companies dont give rats ass for any R&D, a couple of months ago somebody published a very good article on whats wrong with Indian education system and how India and Indian students have succumbed to other advanced economies

We have zero inventions even though we are running most of the fortune 500 companies, does it ring a bell ?

Indian education was far more better during the days of Rishi munis where at least they were non stop researching for societys improvement and were far more advanced for their times

Why does a kid have to learn 4 different languages besides other BS junk just to establish himself in the school, why cant we stick to what we are good in food for thought please do some more research before publishing some junk

When you passed out from the university were you the best employable ? Were you bestowed with all the skill sets ? It is easy to blame these children because they are at the recieving ends .All baniyas recruit even mining engineers for the lousy job and kill the nations progress because his entire study is a waste . Software writing can be performed by 12 th standard students with adequate proficiency in mathemetics and training .You are complaining making big talks because you have perpetual supply .I have experience with people of almost 100 nations including UK, USA and of course entire African continent .These youngsters bright men must be moulded to the organisational need because people join organisations with lot of aspirations while your mindset speaks a lot about your illiteracy about whats happening around the world . your industry clocks highest attrition why ? because even today barring few companies most are just body shops . India is perhaps the only country where anyone can claim anything .Few years back even IITs banned entry for campus selection for IT companies ? I am writing this as a person who works for himself and so many people also work for me from different nations .My humble request to you is dont write such nonsense that 83 % graduate engineers are unemployable etc because it is an immatured statement they may be unemployable to work like slaves 12 hours a day because when you write such blatant statements the whole world is reading it.

Engineering degree out of compulsion

Problem is way too many engineers in India, you would think that India has a big silicon valley to employ all of them. Engg is taken more out of force than out of choice. Unfortunately this means that 70-80% are not good engineers...

No value for education
by abhay Kumar on Sep 13, 2012 09:28 AM

The author has mentioned about the Unemployability but in real its not that true. I have seen people who had degrees from Pvt Engg colleges who don't even have UGC and AICTE approval are also recruited in Companies like Wipro, Cognizant etc and they are paid quite high also. As far as Communication is concerned even that is not important for an IT job as I have seen people with the worst communication skills going to Onsite locations like US, UK for Project assignments. IT job is labour one if you have particular skill set which are required at that moment then no body sees your Analytical and communication skills they just land you to the required project.

wih so many engineering colleges..how do u expect quality..

quality of students, teachers, syllabus everything is so poor..

with reservations, a significant majority of undeserving candidates, which is about 80% graduate with an engineering degree.. so how do u expect quality?
