It is a lesson to select the Educational minister very carefully
by jaggu on Feb 16, 2012 08:00 PM  | Hide replies

People with wicked and vested interests can destroy institutions in pursuit of petty personal goals. Asking to monitor the net , asking to scrap IIT JEE , are vicious attacks on the integrity & independance of widely recognized & excellent institutions.

There should be stringent norms for ministers and they should be commited to people and the country.

Sibal is up to one more prank. After introducing CCE for class X level, he drops a bombshell by introducing ISEET for admission into IITs. Really a madcap!

First of all board marks have no credibility, there is a big question mark on the overall board exam process.

Secondly how do you compare one board exam with another to give 40% weightage?
How do you compare UP board with bihar board to ICSE etc..

This ChootiyaMinisterIsAdamenet to destroy perhaps the only performing educations system in india.

The questio is why Sibal wants to change something
by such jano on Feb 16, 2012 07:56 PM

that works, rather that working on systems that do not work?
Why this is priority, its obivious he want to create opportunities for manipulation and corruption.

National Level Competition

There is a danger of the Southern State students losing if a single common test is centralised at N.Delhi. It is necessary to have a common syllabus from LKG level to start with before introducing centralised common entrance tests. We are not yet free from manipulation.

not fair
by veerapuram dharan on Feb 16, 2012 07:55 PM

all the state board exams are not the same, the question pattern, toughness and corrections..for ex, the state board pattern of TN is relatively easy when compared to AP..even the CET of AP is the second toughest in india after JEE...

kapil should be insane when he talks of scrapping the present one..i myself was an IIT aspirant some 18 years ago, and being from CBSE background, I still couldnt crack it because of the tough nature of JEE..if there is any change in the system, then the standard of IIT students would come down..

It is a very bad idea! This is one institution with Ivy League ratings, which the govt should not mess with

SCRAPING JEE
by debasis debnath on Feb 16, 2012 07:51 PM  | Hide replies

It's definitely a good move by the government as this would help the students to prepare once with full concentration and stop them from moving one institute to another for appearing at the entrance examinations. More over this will uniformly decide the fate of the students as they will have to go through a defined syllabus for all the Institutes. This will also put a stop to all the coaching Institutes who lure the students for these exams.

I have seen people with 90% marks in board exams but are basicallyChootiyeeAnd have no aptitide to solve problems. IIT exams and other similiar low grade exams for other colleges have been very successful in finding best minds to be trained at IITs, its a proven system, lets not destroy it.

Exactly, sibal is trying to make space in the system so politicians can push their candidates or there is scope for corruption.
Needless to mention if this really happens, the IITs will turn into any other donation type college within years.

having ISEET
by drpooja palwankar on Feb 16, 2012 07:41 PM

I think one exam ISSET would be good because it will less stressful to the students, also would avoid multiple entrance exams for the engineering/IIT aspirants
