Good way to Go Mr. Sibal

This will cut manufacture IIT student's by precision rote.

ISEET will really help the IITs and other premier institutes of the country to get students of excellent ability with reasoning, logic and aptitude.

This will help the students with high level of intelligence, get through IITs and not limit to stereotypes, whose only ambition could be as small as getting a healthy fat pay check in an excellent organization.

Also the science ministry and central government should review the requirements of IITs and the purpose they were meant for.

IITs sole aim was not to produce candidates for the commercial industry. It was meant to create students with vision of science and to make India the best country on par with any other country in the world of science and technology, which unfortunately is not the case.

The idea of IITs was to create producers and not consumers. Also not to forget the fact the IITs are funded by the Center to huge extent and Center has every right to review the results of their funding vis a vis to the achievements of the country.

Rest of the issues, whether to introduce 40% of marks at 10 2 level are best left to the individual state governments and science ministry to sort out.

We have to take leaf out of American Education which produces market drivers of the world whether Science or Management.

scrapping IIT JEE

This idea of a common exam for all engg colleges and considering Borad exams is foolish
a) what happens if the student falls sick on that particular day - one year lost ??
b) How can you equalise with many board having different requirements
c)What happens if all State boards do not declare their results before JEE (or ISEET) declares or admits students - will IITs exclude
d0 ISEET exam is tough (some times they have negative marks)so many colleges will have to admit students with 0 or negative marks (range of marks - looks silly or will IIT dilute its standards
e) why should students study other subjects - already pressure is high
f) coaching classes will increase - student will now attend for std xii, ISEET and also go for college

It's not for all engineering colleges, only for the ones funded by the Centre.

a.) The problem of the student falling sick on the day of the JEE is present now as well. If it is a weightage based system, then this can be addressed - boards spread over many days and then ISEET.
b.) Valid point
c.) There will finally be pressure on State boards to declare their results on time
d.) JEE also has negative marks. There is a minimum cutoff in very section.
e.) and f.) Students will pay more attention to what is taught in school, instead of neglecting school for tuitions. Also, school education should produce more well-rounded students who are competent in languages as well as PCM.

On what basis hoping that this system will reduce tutions. If you have been trough 12th then you would know that even those students who are just interested in clearing boards and other entracnce exams are also dpendent on tution, it is simply because teacher don't teach in school with full dedication. ISEET or no ISEET tutions system will still be tehre.

I'm sorry, but I don't think that this time he taking a wrong step. When he introduced CCE in classes IX and X prematurely, he did serious wrong to students like me (yes, I suffered all that torture and I was in IX at that time when it was introduced) but this time, he is eliminating those students who are clearing exams on the basis of rote learning or formulae application learning. This step is raising a hope for students who do not try to learn but to understand the crucial concepts (again, I'm one of 'em and it doesn't feel good to be pushed behind by rote learners). So, this time (I can't believe I'm saying this after bearing the torture in IX and X) I SUPPORT HIM.

Shubham, As per my experience Boards Exams are the ones which promote rote learning and 40% of weightage to them will certainly help such students. I am not sure on what basis are you saying the IIT-JEE can be cleared on basis of rote learning because as per my experience they are ones which can be cleared only if you know the concepts.
No matter wat is exam system tution system is here to stay.
