Scraping of IIT-JEE AIEEE etc.
by rajan wahal on Feb 16, 2012 07:39 PM

Yes we need only one Single Exam at All India Level....Yes
But as pointed out first we need to bring all the Boards for 12th at same level Hence the change first must start at School Level.
Today student good marks at JEE could not get food marks at State Level exam because syllbus difference.
The complete Idea of 40% weightage to 12th and All india single paper is Excellent but implementation need top be proper.
The proposed implementation from 2013 is not thoght of decesion this will create more problem than solve the problem

Useless Sibal with useless half cooked Ideas
by Sridhar Raman on Feb 16, 2012 07:22 PM

Mr.Sibal comes out with silly and simple solution to solve Complex Problem to score media points. The Solution are half baked , half cooked doesn't address the issue involved at all.

1)The Syllabus of each board is different at 12th level. The Depth of Knowledge is different in each Subject.
I am not sure of number of State Boards in India Minimum 25. Each board in order to maximise their student getting into IITJEE/AIEEE will be lenient and give marks to student easily Papers
so how will you compare different Boards

2) How this will reduce coaching Institute Problem Only Sibal can explain

3)Only one Exam ie instead of IIT /JEE and AIEEE students will give one exam ISEET

Rest everything is same

So HOw Mr Sibal says it will reduce Students Pressure

Why save IITs?
by tar sha on Feb 16, 2012 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

And i fail to understand why india should subsidize IIT education at the cost of primary schools. Most of these IITans either end up in US universitieis doing PhD in unrelated fields or end up in IIM and eventually sell detergent or preapare spreadsheets for consulting/IB. Let industry sponsor them or let them take loans and repay it when they start earning.

Very true. Subsidies should be given to those who goes for MTech and Phd at IITs/IISC.

Change is constant
by tar sha on Feb 16, 2012 07:17 PM  | Hide replies

Currently most of the IITans spent year or two at coaching classes in kota (or other place) to prepare for JEE. After couple of years, classes will start offering prep for whatever new exam format we will set. When seats are too few and potential applicants are manyfold, we can't avoid it.

ISEET will further diminish chances and hopes of being an IITian
by Ankita Pal on Feb 16, 2012 07:13 PM

Thepattern of IIT-JEE is extremely unique and must not be interfered by board exams. This will not help nurturing fresh and genuine talent. It will diminish and rather destroy our aspirations.

Have a national testing authority
by kannan on Feb 16, 2012 07:10 PM

What India needs is an independent National Testing Authority which will conduct entrance tests relevant for admission to engineering, medicine, law, economics and arts. Scores from the exams can be optionally sent to the various admitting colleges. All malpractices can be eliminated in one stroke. Anyone listening?
