Inventions from Colleges must be encouraged. Students must be made aware in the First Year of study about the benefits of the Patent & Inventions which will lead students to make a difference in the India! "Heavy Royalty is being paid to the person who invents something new and registers Patent"
India is nothing compare to rest of the world in Inventions & filing Patents.
Medical, Pharmacy, Engineering, Chemical, Agriculture, Fishing, etc. colleges must give substantial numbers of new Inventions/Products followed by registering new Patents every year.
political parties are bothered about vote banks. everyone wants to compete who can give largest share of quota, and the quota lobby keep going backwards.
Give free education all in bc/sc/st/obc etc but make enterance and admission solely on marks secured. It is truly laughable when a person he/she secures just the minimum qualification mark and yet gets admission in the university colleges, what engineering or future he/she will build for the nation, where as people who score high marks struggle to get admission because out of 40/50/60 seats , 33% reserved for girls, 50% reserved for backward castes etc...
i am not trying to single out any particular caste, but genuine students should get admission.
Give free education, coaching, hostel accomidation etc for the students but make enterance and admission caste free..then only we will make some progress

What will be the end result ? Today government and semi government jobs are taken up by a large percentage from upper caste but corrupt and ineffective people. With reservatuion policy, government and semi government jobs will be taken up by a large percentage from lower caste but corrupt and ineffective people. Zero progress.

Very true! You have hit the nail on the head. No one in his right senses will object to this, except the corrupt politicians.

I still know the places where casteism is practiced at large. Politicians garner them for the political support and this menace still remains in place. In Maharashtra itself few days back when ppl. come to know that their mid-day meal are prepared by backward class ppl. they refused to eat and demanded to remove him...... Such cases raises the doubts what will happen to such ppl if reservations are removed. If they are treated right now like this, with no reservations they will have no place to go. I think in the modern societies no body cares about castes and we can welcome this suggestion. But in villages these things are still practices. Look at the cases of khap panchayats, they still feel that upper class and lower class marriages should be abolished. If such is the case, no body can think of removing reservation.

if reservation has not been able to eliminate these problems since last 60 years , how will it solve it in imaginable future ?

I guess there should also be reservations in the lok sabha and Rajya Sabha. Politicians will realize how the rest of the nation feels

I think it is already in place... few seats are reserved for the backward/sc/st.
we have to create a some univercities for excellence which are NGO so that we can get rid of this ugly politics. its really hard to smell of govt babus.
Put an end to this unyielding quota system which is actually producing more untalented and unskilled products. Provide oppurtunity on merit based and not on caste/creed based.

Merit based: I guess the merit itself is not at the right place. Scoring 90% marks doesn't mean he is a good student or learner. How abt. the practical things. I did engineering and I know lots of girls and boys(they come without reservation) who had the capability to mug up things. They scored well but practicals they were like zeroes. THey used to mug up even the computer programs. SO you have seen the end result. It doesn't matter how they are selected. It is how they are nurtured at the institutes. If mugging up the same thing is the end result it is always going to be the untalented and unskilled, whether you select them by merit or caste.

and i tell you Einstein was very poor in practicals however Edison was poor in theories. We need both kind of ppl but not Popes.
1/ Govt is unable to provide opportunities and facilities. 2/ Pvt institutions are forced to accept poor quality students on quota basis. 3/ Many are unable to pay fee as required to maintain quality faculty. 4/ Pvt inst unable to meet the fin reqmts on limited fee, no state aid, limited availability of PhD faculty and resistance to recognition appt of good faculty with industrial/admin background but lacking PhD

The bitter truth is Education has also become another business venture. There are number of PhDs who do not know the subject of their thesis! Thanks to ghost writing and availability of 'Guides' for a price. This is particularly true of PhDs obtained from certain North Indian Universities!!
I fully agree with the entire conversation. In our College, when a proposal was sent for Projectors and laptops for the teachers, the Administrative Persons rejected saying that this is luxury. We still use Black Boards in Degree College (Government). This is enough that Bureaucracy is the main hurdle in progress and development in Education.
