truth
by shashwat kirwai on Aug 11, 2010 05:04 PM  | Hide replies

Upper caste belive in karma. thats why even from depths we can rise to heights and prosper. we dont need any help nor any reservations to rise.
While others who eat free slip further down into darkness and despair.
during independance there were 2000 castes for reservations, now there r 4000. this is the effect of reservations.

and even with all chances you got deprived of talent.I was scared of reservation when I was in school/college but now feel happy that what i am today is not because someone more talented lost his/her chance.

You idiots talk of equality and you yourself call yourself as LOWER CASTE... first of all learn to rise in your own eyes and then think of getting respect from others.
You will continue to beg even 2000 years from now if u don't come out of this quota mentality.

u first read gita then talk karma..
rnot everybody is equal, there is a difference, secret is to accept it.
Secondly everybody shud get equal chance, chance only and not everything.
but it shud be personel capacity to grab that chance.
role of govt is to provide everybody with equal oppertunities thats all.

Quota Syatem is not bad...
by Anand Pandey on Aug 11, 2010 05:01 PM

I think headline of article is not appropiate. In the article he has not said that quota system is bad. If talent is not getting the admission, number of seats could be further increased.
Merit or demerit of quota system can not be highlighted by giving such examples. I think major problem with quota system is that it is dividing the societey. Any way in India it is nothing but political tool to win the seats as only number decides who will become our MP/MLA etc.

regional and religional reservation in pvt.
by anand on Aug 11, 2010 05:00 PM

educational institution also hampers the good students. There are many such a organisation are running in this country where there is a reservation based on religion and region. Govt must create unique infrastructural plan to give an opportunity to study to all .

Quota is not smart system, exploited -but still has good things
by Sundar K on Aug 11, 2010 04:57 PM  | Hide replies

In India even 63 years after independence, there are hundreds of millions of people continue to do only family profession -such as farming, service oriented jobs and doesn't recognize need for higher education, or don't feel they have the capacity to send their kids.

Until this population rises up and above in education and economy India has to go through economic inequalities and vast population below poverty line.

Quota system has slowly done lots of favor for the nation as a while, as bringing 100s of millions to taste and long for opportunities -though it is shortcut in many aspects. But has benefited the nation, though it penalized tens of millions on the other side.

We have come to the point - need to put the agenda on bringing the below poverty communities (for ages) to sustained economic development as first priority - and at the same time, need to bring fairer , smarter and corruption free system at the same time. Let's hope!

My Son is one of the victims of 'reservation' quota even after scoring distinction marks. Additionally we are humiliated by the Officials at MSBTE and KSBTE - becoz they are unaccountable and are law unto themselves. These things keep on happening in India kyon ki MERA BHARAT MAHAN.

boss don't hide your impotence behind nonsense reasons.talk about the present and no one wins race on a wheel chair. In next couple of generations those in habbit of not studying will perish. As the sayings "Vidwan sarwatra poojayte" will remain correct.Either you wake up or face the consequences. Why do you think upper caste ruled others bcoz they were intelligent. And believe me you will rule the world if you work hard/think and not by taking help of quota system.

'Good students are sacrificed for the quota system'
by Satchidananda Murthy on Aug 11, 2010 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

Dr.Baru has expressed his view and it is important that we give a thought to it. Personally, I am have nothing against or for Quota system. But, we are losing the talent in the younger generation because of lack of opportunities to study. Already, we are behind China infrastructure wise by atleast 25 to 35 years. Our Government has to look-up new options and avenues to solve our education and higher study problems, which would definitely change our country's future. I sincerely hope that we get world class institutions in our country in the near future.

Our government is literally garbage. There is no use arguing. Lets hope to be good citizens ourselves. We can't correct anything in this UTMOST CORRUPT COUNTRY. its no better than pakistan except terrorism.

Being an indian its painful to put these into words. Im sorry im not a patriot, but its the true fact.

Total corruption, India will never go good from bad
by abcde on Aug 11, 2010 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

There is corruption everywhere, and i guarantee that we cannot curb it. It is so deep rooted in Indians on par with casteism or religions. They are so backward in their mind. Whatever efforts you or anyone take cannot mend India, it has gone BEYOND CORRUPTION!! People who try to find a solution become victims of it themselves and are rendered helpess. I hope that parents teach proper values. not run brthls themselves.

What Reservations Have AChieved?
by Anand Khatavkar on Aug 11, 2010 04:52 PM  | Hide replies

This is a truth of course Sir..!!

But who cares? This is India...After Bhopal Disaster someone created a song "IF YOU WANT TO COME TO INDIA BETTER JUMP INTO A WELL"

Reservation is in fact like helping a disabled man to run marathon by promoting him from Start line to finish line, while the other man keeps on running all the way for 30kms. And that is why Americans rejected it, But they have in the end elected a Black as President in white house over his competencies and not on reservations.

Here, people will surely fight for subsidies and subsidies and support systems - (can be compared to Life support systems in Hospitals) as BIRTH RIGHTS rather than prove it right.

All people who do not get admissions and jobs due to reservations - BETTER JUMP INTO A WELL.

The core cause of Corruption is now the protectionism offered by Reservations in Government systems. Even in courts, the judicial system is biased against Brahmins who are less than 4% of Indian population but form 80% of Human Resources.

Should It be not Based on Geography & Financial Status after 60 years of reservations.

Even Dr.Ambedkar had originally put the task of reservation for 20Yrs. He burnt the modified constitution copy before his death.

Only the person who is sleeping can be woken up. Not the one who is pretending to be.

You will rather deny to be virtuous but be like a disabled man waiting to be promoted to finish line in the Marathon rather than slog it out.
