DO-NOT-CALL REGISTRY
by rajesham urgonda on Jun 04, 2008 08:14 PM  | Hide replies

Even I had faced same problem with one of the leading CDMA operator. Finally I registered my mobile number with DO-NOT-CALL Registry by sending a SMS. Since then I am not getting any spam/unsolicited calls/SMS from service provider. Each service provider has different SMS number. for example reliance CDMA user has to send SMS DNC DEACT to 23733. Within 45 days they will stop unsolicited SMS and calls. Its highly effective. If any anybody wants for other service providers, pls mail me your email id at surenderu@rediffmail.com, will forward you pdf file which has numbers for all service providers.

Even after registering my no with Do not call registry, I get lot of promotional calls..No doubt I can go to court and fight against the service provider for such a thing. and I am sure I will win the case bcoz it's Supreme court's order (Do not call)..But I dont have time for such things...and need to concentrate on family career etc...i can do only ---- crying & cribbing...

Service providers should be made accountable..
by a yogi on Jun 04, 2008 08:14 PM

I have been using Airtel for the last 4 years, On so many occasions i have found that amounts have been deducted from my prepaid balance wrongly, mostly on account of some service which i have never subscribed for. On enquiry the customer care shamelessly cliams that i did activate that service. It is quite infuriating. I am sure i have been wrongly deducted on many a occasions wrongly which i have been unable to detect. I add my greiviance to this forum hoping some permanant solution for such will come forward.

you are absolutely correct. In our country every company is exploiting the innocent customers. For example ICICI lumbard had cheated me by around Rs.5000/- towards health insurance scheme. (they will call each and every icici credit card holder and canvass them. but they will never reveal the hidden cost of the scheme. we are ready to give the nominal charges as that of govt. insurance companies but not the hidden charges like interest charges to the premium service charges for that service tax for both etc.

FLEECING by mobile phone service provider.
by anup roy on Jun 04, 2008 07:58 PM  | Hide replies

I had to accept a mobile phone a few years ago -- my children brainwashed me that I could not manage without it in this modern age. It really gets handy for remote calling and sending and receiving short messages. But,sir, I never ever tried to check how its calculator functions.
Lately it so happened: I received an offer of listening 30 songs for Rs. 30/- a month. Instantly I ignored it, the way I ignored many such offers(?) before. Suddenly I discovered that the amount had been deducted from my balance. I contacted the number and told a vernacular speaking lady to put the amount back to my account since I am not interested in their songs. I made an SMS also to that number demanding my money back.
Everything went in vain. I then called the 'customer care'. The customer care executive advised me to wait, when he would be connecting me to his supervisor. I waited patiently for quite some time and then there was 'engage' sound. I connected the customer care again, immediately. Again there was computerised voice and again many pressing of buttons and listening to her monotone. Then again came the voice of the live customer care executive. He wanted me to narrate my problem again, which I refused saying the solution was beyond his ability.I wanted to be put to his supervisor without any tricks and that I already had been kept waiting, but was not connected to their supervisor. I warned him that for Thirty Rupees I would be suing them. He said that it was a different person wh

continuing my narration:
He said that it was a different person I talked to earlier, and requested again to narrate my problem to him. I did it. He informed me that people who are doing that sort of thinks are not the part of the company, etc. Ultimately I received my money back.

I too had that problem in the last year. My service provider is Reliance. In fact i had no caller tune and still they were billing me for it!!!
I kept on complaining and every time i was assured that the charges will be reversed ... finally a threat of going to consumer court resulted in their reversing the charges.

After reading the comments of other readers, I am happy to state that the Idea connection I use for the last 19 months has never given any problem to me.

I am happy with the service provided and the customer care staff is very co-operative. I think everyone should go in for an Idea connection. Their service's are very good and you never get these problems which we have with other operators.

If anyone has had good experience with their operators, pls. share as well. I think with number portability, the companies would realize that they should focus on custoemr service as well. Then you all can move to Idea as well...

Airtel is much better than Hutch/Vodafone. After I left my Hutch connection I really had to struggle to get my deposits back. I am with Airtel now for the last 5 years without any problem...so far.
