Cheating while roaming
by Guest on Jun 04, 2008 09:34 PM  | Hide replies

I have the Idea phone and I don't know why but whenever I am on roaming, I start getting many calls from their representatives and help Centers telling me about this or that feature or informing about dispatch of my bill etc.

I used to think that these are free calls, but recently I came to know these are charges as 'incoming calls while roaming". My question is why company people call me while I am roaming? They certainly have the information abouut this or they can easily filter out the number which are on roaming. Is it a way of earning some extra bucks?

Be Smart !!!

Hi ,

I understand as much as cell phone is needed in every day life , but i would request all to use it smartly .

India is a bigest market for these cell phone providers with a pollution of 1Bn and an upcoming mobile market doesnt seem to die .

If an average indian family has 4 people and each one carries a mobile and bills around Rs.1000 ( on a lower side ) then the monthy bill for all 4 runs to Rs. 4000 and for a yea it is 12*4000 i.e. around Rs. 50000 . Which i find is an absolute waste of money and these companies are earning big because of people like us .

Guys get smart and outsmart these Telecomm companies .

by rukmani iyer on Jun 04, 2008 09:19 PM

Hi ,

I had a similar experience very recently and was being charged Rs. 30 for AIRTEL TUNE ( CALLER TUNE ) which i never activated . I complained the customer service guys and got a refund of Rs. 510 for the whole year .

This was only possible as I heve worked with BPL and hence knowhow to read mobile bills .

i would request all to read the bills before paying the amount.

There is a complete lack of an effective and strigent consumer protection mechanism in India.

Until a strong and active consumer protection system is implemented in India, all consumers are going to be and are taken to the cleaners by any company providing a service or product!

Why do you think companies from abroad and Indian companies have a field day and make phenomenal profits in the Indian market?!

Indian consumers need to wisen up to this mass-molestation of the consumers!

Stop buying things because they look good, your neighbour has them or simply because you can buy them!

Owning something bigger and better isn't going to add inches to your schlong!

Stop behaving like teenagers and Grow the heck up!!

Blind Alley
by vikas sethi on Jun 04, 2008 09:00 PM

Cellular business is a blind alley. It is impossible to monitor your call or sms charges.

Just imagine if these cellular companies charge each customer even Rs. 10 extra every month, with around 1 crore customers, what is the excess amount these companies earn every month. It seems all their staff salaries can be discounted this way.

Little wonder, despite its huge investment, Reliance started making huge profits from the first year itself.

Who is going to bell this cat?????

Deposit amount not returned by Hutch.
by A. Jacob on Jun 04, 2008 08:54 PM

I was charged Rs 500 as deposit amount. Then for one month the bill payment was done twice by mistake. As I was discontinuing their services, I was promised the deposit amount and the excess amount paid after 60 working days. It is more than 6 months now, still I'm running around them to get the issue resolved. The last time I called them, they said that as per their records their was no deposit amount charged by them. Isn't that funny? And they claim that they are "Happy to help". Nonsense.
