Did not deserve
by iamforindia on May 17, 2009 05:14 PM  | Hide replies

Advani's singular projection of himself was considered as a master stroke since it worked in the Gujarat elections when Modi was projected. Arun Shourie nixed their chances when he pop-upped Modi's name. Varun could have said the same thing in a moderate language- I dont know what sort of poetry he writes, must be trash. This is what the public remembered.
BJP never went speaking coherently about alternative governance and what they would do.They were busy bad mouthing. The issues were so large and any incumbent government would have fared dismally with the baggage- except for the nuclear deal and the economic crisis ( we have done better than the rest of the world)- and these issues were never taken up forcefully- thus the public lost track only to be jolted by Arun and Varun and send them scurrying for succour.

For their so called 'agenda'...Ram may have well said.... As a King I must be in the people's hearts, I must have the people in my heart at all times.
Puranas say... Remember Him if you want.. but if you remember Him and later discard Him. He will not return.

In many states the state situation influenced the voting
by Shri Hegde on May 17, 2009 05:09 PM

Like BJD in Orrissa, JDU in Bihar, CongI in Andra, BJP in Karnataka, HP, MP, Chhattisgarh, Jharkahnd, Gujrat did well. All this because of good local governance.
Now in Maharashtra, UP the vote division played a role. In Kerla, WB it was strong anti-Left wave.
In Panjab, Rajastan Hariayana CongI did well and BJP didn't.
All things which could go well for CongI went well.

Good thing is that we have a proper mandate to a party. Now, let's hope the govt delivers on the promise.

why does the truth appear to be poison. the bjp only talks about ram mandir and ram sethu and never about poverty eradication or Dalit upliftment. they are agitated more about cow slaughter than about Dalit genocide. the bjp are the present representatives of the ancient brahmins who divided India for their benefit. the bjp is anti-Muslim, Christian, Dalit & Tribal and neutral to OBC because of their numbers. the bjp is truly anti-national.

by jaya prakash on May 17, 2009 04:55 PM  | Hide replies

stunning ,stinging & stinking is the defeat of BJP at the national level calls for a serious revamp of think tank of so called ideology .
the party will have to chart out a new course project a youthful team hitherto represented by the likes pramod mahajan focus on national issues like economic development ,security issues rather than wasting time in rotten issues like hindutva ,temple building and fail to polarize voters don a pan indian face rein in fringe elements like balthackery who foment parochial tendencies become a self reliant party not depending on clutches of allies now the role of bjp is all the more important what with a compromising congress in power let bjp spread length and breadth of the nation and come to power 2014 with an youngleader.

BJP is a genuinely good party but Advani & Modi are criminals
by Sameer Mehta on May 17, 2009 04:48 PM  | Hide replies

Now that we are introspecting, lets try and be honest over here...
If one has to look into his own eyes and ask if people involved in mass killings or people and having blood tainted hands should represent out country? When US, UK, etc... don't want to give them visas & even allow entry in their respective countries...
We genuinely missed Vajpayee or someone like his clean image...
It's not about minorities or Christians and Muslims in particular but it's about the innocent people getting killed and kids becoming orphans...
Progress is all about forgiving and moving forward...
Not about using Ram for each election as 'BJP' and then for the sake of power and chair locking Ram and keeping Ram aside as 'NDA'.
An overhaul is required...
Also, BJP should expedite cases against Advani & Modi and get them locked up and hanged once & for all...

who cares if our leaders don't get visa from these west countries? The same countries would have lined up to give visa's if these people had come to power. The same west supported Suddam and Pinnochet when they were in power. Let's not measure ourselves thru the barometer of west.

I agree with you that Afzal & Advani are one & the SAME!!!
Actually Kasab & Advani are one and the SAME as they both (& even Modi!) are responsible for killings of innocent people...
Whereas Afzal did NOT kill any innocent but attacked the parliment... And Parliment is the place where India's MOST CORRUPT people who are criminals turned politicians stay...
So Afzal should get an award?
Or we are saying all are criminals and because Afzal & Kasab are not getting punished, so even Advani & Modi should not get punished?
Let us put them in Jail at least...
Becasue they will try and use and abuse the name of Ram again!
Stop them!!!

BJP is trash
by slumdog on May 17, 2009 04:38 PM  | Hide replies

Sonia and Manmohan's combined charm has worked. Now I would like to ask Advani who is weak? Definitely Advani's weak and he should think about retiring and playing with his grandchildren. Instead of addressing the real concerns of India which have always been poverty, employment, better living standards, farmers etc, they have focussed on hate speeches, personal attacks, communal politics, trivial and non-essential dead issues like ram janma bhoomi, rem sethu, amarnath, terrorism etc which the common man doesn't give a damn about. Rahul Gandhi has shown more wisdom, honesty and political maturity than all the trash talking BJP top leadership put together. It just shows two young leaders in sharp contrast. Rahul who has come of age, can speak on a wide range of political issues and problems. Second is Varun who can only propel himself into limelight by making controversial hate speeches. Its clear that Varun is not anywhere near the new emerging modern and capable leaders like Scindia, Pilot, Deora and Rahul and Omar. In their hands i am confident India will be in safe hands and progress faster. Varun better learn from them or perish

Look at the young leaders of Congress - their qualifications are not the hate speech they made but education and hard work.

why all the BJP supporters after losing election (badly)are talking about more terrorist attacks????????
Is that what they have decided to do now??????
Is this a threat to the MMS government from their side??????
RSS is already having a record of indulging themselves in terrorist activities ........
So, will they become more active in future??????

Now, all are talking about various mistakes BJP did while campaigning...

Where were they when campaigning was on its full swing. That time why did not they notice and those mistakes.

There is an english version of 'Jo jeeta wohi Sikander'. It is - "When you win nobody will ask, how you won. But when you lose all will preach you so many things" !!!

Secondly, I am surprised, after so many blasts/killings, price hike of essential commodities, Job-loss etc... Still if a ruling-party wins. Suspicion is obvisous on the EVM machines...
