BJPs Magical Novel schme for needy what did congee do in 60yr
by gomateswara on May 06, 2009 12:04 AM  | Hide replies

Ladli Laxmi Yojana scheme was started by the BJP govt in MP in 2006. In a very short time, it has proved to be one of the most successful social welfare schemes in the history of the state.

Under the scheme, the state govt buys saving certificates of Rs 6,000 each year for five consecutive years for every girl born in a family.

The girl gets Rs 2,000 after she completes her Class 5, another Rs 4,000 after she completes Class 8, Rs 7,500 after she completes the Class 10, Rs 200 per month in her 11th standard and a lumpsum amount of Rs 1,18,000 after she enters the 12th standard or, alternatively, attains the age of 18.

The principal aim of the scheme is to eliminate school dropout among girl students and to encourage them to study at least upto pre-college level.
Kanyadhan Yojna: state gives Rs 7,500 for poor families during the time of a girl's marriage, and
Janani Suraksha Yojna: state provides all economic & health support to a pregnant woman till the time of delivery.
This is what I (as an Indian) call development of girl child; unfortunately no media will project this, but will project BJP as T@liban if some Sene beats a girl who goes to a pub only coz it happened in a state ruled by BJP. This bias is going to be the undoing of the Congress

If people come out of poverty and get educated, who will vote congress. That's the reason it doesn't want to eliminate poverty.

We have Water...
by Ramesh Kapoor on May 05, 2009 10:37 PM  | Hide replies

What is lacking, is water treatment plant. We should learn from Israel and UAE countries which are treating sea water for human consumption. India has ample supply of chemical engineers who could have been deployed over the years by running water treatment plants but, like all other things, good deeds are slow to come. Water catchments, conserving rain water, and constructing water reservoirs is all that is needed. Presumably, the local government authorities will take care of this.

Totally agree with you.
Makes me mad when we get score card based on how the stock market is doing NOT realizing that we are STILL not able to provide basic necessasity to our citizen. Clean water and propery sanitation is still a huge issue right after education for our kids.
It will continue to happen as long as Politicians are asking for either Hindu or Muslim votes and NOT INDIAN VOTES. They are still playing the British game.. Divide and Rule.
When is the last time you heard any politician talk about growth of their state or the nation herself? we always hear them get up there and point figures at the other representatives.

Corruption in every corner of our nation is robbing our youth of their rights.

Coastal states like Tamilnadu, Orissa, M'rashtra should have put up more than one desalination plant by now to partly solve this problem instead of blaming the Centre all the time. TN Govt. can spend Rs. 200 Cr for an Int'l Tamil Conf but would not find the money for a desalin-ation Plant, that can benefit thousands of people. States can always try & get WB loan repayable over long periods. Nor would any state like to take the initia-tive in interlinking rivers. The tragedy is long term vision is required from state leaders and this is conspicuously missing from them. They want to spend their entire term blaming the Centre for their inertia.

Yes we are evolved to do that.
- Asking question to parents is showing disrespect
- Asking question to teacher is disrespect
- Asking question to public servant is poking nose..

We have made it as if asking question is the way you challenge the authority. We are never encouraged to ask question to improve our communication, improve our knowledge.

Teachers must solicit and record all WHY questions from your children and give them to you at the end of the day.

If I were the Prime Minister of India, I would AMEND Constitution accordingly.

Dear Ashwini,

Bajpayee in his tenure of 5 years, always said "danger of cleaning water". I believe that he was only one politician to raise this issue.

All political parties leaders are chor
by aniruhd kaushik on May 05, 2009 09:18 PM

These all parties leaders are chor. They are looting our country and they make money for themselves and for kids.
There should be right to reject these rascals during voting so that only true leaders come to serve the people.
There should be mass movement from common man so that these corrupt leaders should realize that they can not continue to loot the national resources.

Why wait for government?
by Passed on May 05, 2009 09:13 PM  | Hide replies

We are very good at blaming others for the problem and expect other to resolve them too..

If from past 30 year villagers have water but no cleaning facility, why don't they try to contact some NGOs, which will help them in finding and funding a facility?

If each unit of India, start taking their own issue at their own level, we will not need so much help from government. So many model villages have been set as example where, with very little help from govenrment, population have achieved so much and solved so many issues.

Because we expect government to take care of everything, we have lost the respect for the public property by large. We don't see damage to public property as damage to our property. We do not see that what we damaged because of our misbehavious is loss for someone who want to use that thing.

1. Will you spit/urinate on your wall everytime you have the urge?
2. Will you break windows of your car or home, when your wife/children does not listen to you?
3. Will you drink water in dirty glass in your home?
4. Will you throw garbage in any corner of your home, when no one sees you doing it?
5. Will you put posters and write on walls of your home?
6. Will you allow others to do damage to any of your property because they feel like doing it?

No we will not do any of above mentioned things, but when we are outside our premises, we don't even think twice to do the same with others and public property.

Thanks a lot for the sensible comments. I saw it in passing and I was impressed. Samuel Johnson once said that the brightest prospect a Scotsman ever saw was the high road leading to London. Well, the brightest prospect that Indians see is the prospect of a government handout.

World should know who is keeping us hostages-Tamil Ealam
by SUDHAKAR on May 05, 2009 09:11 PM

If the Colombo government is starving us, the world should know who is keeping us hostages. If the world’s concern is ‘purely humanitarian’ it should act this very minute to give us our means to keep the body and soul together”, is the voice of the civilian victims of Colombo’s starvation weapon, reported hospital sources in Vanni. Even the meagre food stock of the hospital staff depleted they said. Last Thursday, UN humanitarian chief, John Holmes, acknowledging the situation, said the food supply was barely enough only for a day. Five days have gone, and none coming with only statements of humanitarian concerns, has acted on it. Meanwhile, no more food shipments to Vanni is said to be the decision in Colombo.
