Development of villages
by parameswaran K on May 05, 2009 08:52 PM  | Hide replies

Panchayati Raj in its true form,if implemented will solve most of woes being faced by the people staying in rural areas.Unfortunately politicians do not want to give up power to the grass root level. We have a panchayati raj minister in Mani Shankar Iyer who would never have visited a single panchayat so far.In fact with implementation of panchayati raj in full swing through implementation of schemes through elected gram panchayats even maoist and naxalite threat can be eliminated. In any case for the type of government we had for over 50 years through congress, nothing came through.Even NH Authority instituted by NDA stopped functioning under TR Balu and for the past 5 yrs no infrastructure development in the country has taken place.Balu has changed the head of NH Authority 5 times for selfish reasons resulting in allowing even the golden quadrilateral project to remain where it was left by NDA.This government would implement only those project where its ministers have some personal interest.See the crowd of corrupt ministers in UPA and compare them with the clean government of NDA.Congress could not find a single corruption case against any NDA ministers. They tried with George Fernandez who does not have a house of his own nor a bank balance. As long as people continue to vote for Congress, the situation will go from bad to worse.Parameswaran

drinking water
by TAMILAN on May 05, 2009 08:41 PM  | Hide replies

what use is this sort of development when one cannot have a safe drinking water.it is high time some one files a PIL for supplying bottled water in all ministerial meetings, when these politicians do not drink the water they give it to the maases and charge too.
Instead of throwing shoes some one should make the politicians to drink the water from the toilet pipes

Totally agree with you.
Makes me mad when we get score card based on how the stock market is doing NOT realizing that we are STILL not able to provide basic necessasity to our citizen. Clean water and propery sanitation is still a huge issue right after education for our kids.
It will continue to happen as long as Politicians are asking for either Hindu or Muslim votes and NOT INDIAN VOTES. They are still playing the British game.. Divide and Rule.
When is the last time you heard any politician talk about growth of their state or the nation herself? we always hear them get up there and point figures at the other representatives.

Corruption in every corner of our nation is robbing our youth of their rights.

The best way is for people to form groups & then file a PIL in the affected area and sue the concerned government depart-ment. Likewise, in some cities like Banga-lore, where there is a penchance for put-ting up speedbreakers at the drop of a hat, a majority of them are not zebra marked or are so tall as to require an oxygen mark, the net result is, during night, when vehicles/vans go at high speed over the invisible speedbreakers, the wheels either come out or are irrever-sibly damaged. Overseas, it is a standard practice for the vehicle owner to sue the local municipality and claim reimburse-ment for damages incurred. It is high time such a precedent was started here to set some long over due accountability.

thisn is a small example but in real there r many places who till date have to bring water from a distance except gujarat where N.M.has delivered narmada waters to every corner.in real the fruits of independence have not reached the villages.except candigarh or some cities many cities have bad roads there r no facilities of hospitals or docters.the farmers had to suecide for the depths they could not clear even after working hard in the hot sun.kick the congress as hard as u can/

115 crores - thats how big we are. At this rate , in the next 10 years, we will make even the most perennial rivers of the world dry. Instead of askin for votes, ask for strict family planning laws to check population. The country is over crowded already.

Its not about population density ... its about the sheer size of the population. And we cant forget that Japan is an economic power while india is still developing ... its an unfair comparison,

Japan has a higher population density than India ... so, let's not use our population as an excuse for our failures

you should know japan has best possible drinking water and their total population is far less than ours. people like you go on producing and go on voting for hand and this is the way hand will bless you with dirty water and like magicians hand loot all the public money in their bank account. with poor quality of population and large population, easy for the politicians to exploit all the more.

when voting is on caste basis rather than on merit or accomplishments/failures, why should the politicians work?
