Merit Must for Reservation
by Parabhakar Ram on Apr 01, 2009 12:17 PM

I do agree that there has to be reservation for the economically oppressed class and not politically motivated class. Why take away ones right to education and hand it over to somebody who does not deserve(in terms of qualification)just because he belongs to a higher caste. This is gross voilation of his FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT.This is ridiculas. It is really frustrating for a guy who puts in his best effort to qualify for seat, (which he trully deserves),but is given away to somebody else, (who does not even put in 50% efforts to deserve)just because he is from the suppossedly oppressed class.Atleast, please acknowledge merit, otherwise you would see another revolution of the educated oppressed class.

Already there are talks and practised among the younger lots of the reserved catogry, that they don't have to really work hard to earn their seats as they are already assured of a seat due to the caste.

Here again, what about children whose parents earn less than the so called CREAMY LAYER OBC and cannot afford the so called facilities to their children to facilitate them to score good marks in the 12 th board exam. Would they get any benefits from the reservation funda?

I think one has to think rationally rather than the VOTE BANK POLITICS.

Brahmins can get 1% reservation
by RaviSelvan CheyyurRam on Apr 01, 2009 12:15 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Vinod, I accept that Ambedkar (not Periayar) was insulted by Brahmins. But he was not only insulted by brahmins but by other backward community people. Now many things have changed, people mindset changed..we should not punish the people here for their grandparents mistake.

So I can't accept 'revenging the brahmins' as a reason for not giving reservation to them.

Where are the things changed? I dont see change apart from the 1 % of the city population. India is a big country.. Much bigger than internet media and generation has touched so far. Did you listen to the jury of Lead India campaign in response to the similar argument made by one of the prominent contestant? Perceptions are not enough.. facts matter.

About cast & resrvation
by devi seshadri on Apr 01, 2009 12:13 PM

I think only state has not encorage Brahmins that is TN in india other state has but not like TN . in TN they showcase they will not respect too so it is required infact worst in TN Have our politicians on a constant basis increasing the reservations solved the problem of social equality. Is it social justice to push the brahmins backwards.
Get away with reservations on cast basis and get reservation only for economically backward citizens irrespective of caste.
I am sure the politicians would not prefer this because of vote bank politics.
Let's face it reservation has made the so called backward caste lazy and have started taking things for granted.
actuvally the caste is not there in normal social life today normal public are encouging the intercaste marrages ( not only love marrage arranged marrage is also happing irrrespective of caste )but only govermwnt & politicion are talking about caste & etc......
when we are talking about caste & resversation for caste WHY NOT BRAHMINS ? AHY BRAHMINS ARE ALSO HUMAN & CITIZEN OF INDIA . WHEN OTHER ARE ENJOYING LET BRAHMINS ALSO ENJOY THE RESVERSATION .

LET US STOP FOR CASTE & RESERVATION. TALK ONLY ON economically backward citizens irrespective of caste.
OTHERWISE EQUVAL TO ALLCASTE .

WE SHOULD NOT BE A PARTICIAL TO CSTE & HUMAN
BECAUSE WE ARE ALL BROTHER'S & SISTER'S MORE IMPORTANT WE ARE ALL INDIAN .SO LET US TREAT EQUVALLY TO ALL NOT PARTCIAL ....

Out of 3% of total brahmin populations ,not even 0.5 % of people are in good status.God opened the software door, though govt closes govt job doors.Imagine if software would have not come , what would be the status of brahmins. This reservation required only to take care of poor brahmins.

The innate belief is that everyone working in IT industry is upper caste, and that they are all ‘meritorious’ and that they all condemn reservations-based-on-caste unequivocally is NOT TRUE
