reservation bsed on caste in wrong.
Let 100% open competition.
And also most government job should be privatised to open competition. This will amke sure reservation is made redundant.
In private sector, where competition is law, reservation makes no sense.

Reservation policy should be amended
by SUMIT ROYCHOWDHURY on Apr 01, 2009 11:48 AM

The concept of ‘ Reservation by caste’ was better till some time after Independence just like ‘Dissenting GLOBALISATION’ till certain period after independence.
Politicians using it for petty gains causing much loss to society. Certain people in a particular class,
who does not require the reservation reaps the benefits most; which is essentially against the spirit of reservation policy for weaker sections of our society.
So, the people’s representatives come forward to amend the reservation policy only to a chosen few who is economically weaker

See many IAS & many people settled in foreign countries are Brahmins, at least 1 per house as far as I know. Reservation had done good for Brahmins. Real backward class is still in India waiting for reservation.

your statement and the language used shows that you are clearly uneducated. so I think you must avail of the reservation and try to attend at least primary school. I am doing my MBA and here we don't even bother checking each others' caste. and if the so-called dalits who have already been reaping the benefits of reservations for decades now think themselves to be equally capable as the so-called higher castes, why don't they sweat it out in competitive exams? or do they really feel inferior? i wouldn't think so. and no sir. we aren't barking for reservation. because we don't need it. we are smart enough to crack competitive exams and prove our mettle. and by the way, don not forget to enrol yourself under the 'sarv shiksha abhiyan'. it will do you good.

Rich sit by rich and poor sit by poor. This has nothing to do with Brahmins, Dalits, Mudaliars, Nadars, etc. I dont think the Dalit leaders in politics will love to clean toilets that their economically poor dalits do for a living.

They were rich. In today's India there are many Bramhins and people from many Forward Castes who are Poor.

Now the question is whether to provide reservations to Forward castes for their upliftment or not. I think you don't have right to deny that because they are not eating your share of reservation. So why are you so upset with that move.

If you help a dalit he will be slave for you till the end,
but if you help Brahmins one day he will be the king you should be the slave, that what Indian History tells.

Dalits after converting to Christianity are called "Dalit Christians" and other Christians won't have marital ties with them and even they are not treated on par wtih others. Nowadays what we do in city buses will anyone allow his/her children to sit beside a person who is with shabby cloths & looks like a mentally deranged?

Shove the brahmins away
by Sudeepta Das on Apr 01, 2009 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

Today also a brahmin family won't marry their daughter or son to what they call lower cast (SC/ST or even in a Kayastha) people. They haven't changed at all. So there shouldn't be any reservations for the brahmins and also the brahmins should be seperated from the kayastha candidates for the job. As the SC/ST enjoy reservation but the kayastha cast suffers because of these brahmins, as we have to share the seats for the general candidtes with the brahmins. We the kayastha cast should be given reservation also.

Sudeepta, Marriage is a personal affair and there shouldn't be any compultions in that matter. In this democratic country you can't force anyone. Everyone has the right to marry of their choice irrespective of the caste, creed and religion. Above all this is not at all the basis or a factor to be considered for making decision.

Now I'll pose a question to you. All Thakray's of Shiv Sena party and MNS in Maharastra are from Kayasta caste. Bachan's of Bollywood are from Kayasta Caste. Based on these to example should we say that all Kayasta's have good representation in politics and cine industry. They are doing well and they do not require any reservations.

I say, it is not just for Bramhins and Kayastas, all castes and relegions need reservations based on their population ration in this society. Backward castes are enjoying that so why not the Forward castes?

mr bipresh,
tell me will you ever even once think about to marry a SC/ST girl or even kayasta. the answer will be no... so nothing has changed, then why should we share the reservation with you. The brahmins today also are very proud to be brahmin and they see the people belonging from other casts in a filthy way.. trust me I know as I have heard some of the brahmin collegue of mine to comment on that matter...

i think this is what you would like to hear...no i wont. the reservations have assured you of a livlihood, which obviously wont apply to a brahmin. I am taught right from my childhood to hone my skills, the emphasis on education, and the need to stay on the top in every field. reserved categories dont really have to, and i seldom see someone struggling to get that govt college seat or job. This has made my brain sharper, alert and mating with another such brain will produce an equally competent, hardworking offspring.
SO, Heres you answer, I WONT!

Sudeepta, there are good & bad in all castes. I give respect to a person only if he is a GOOD person, not for age, money, etc. You cannot tell brahmins should be excluded in general category or ask for reservation for your community.

Brahmins can get 1% reservation.
by RaviSelvan CheyyurRam on Apr 01, 2009 11:42 AM  | Hide replies

I am belong to SCaste. I support reservation for Brahmins. But the 7% is not a correct ratio. The non-brahmins who are more than 98% of the population get only 69% reseravtion in total. With my current knowledge about brahmins population, I think Brahmins can be alloted only 1% reservation. In count its a big number to their population. Let 30% for open competition.

by omkar kale on Apr 01, 2009 11:42 AM

The most funny thing is that v r applying the reservation method since 60 yrs. around & the situation is not yet improving.
& its abt. voting game only.
Doesn't it means v hv 2 do something different?
It is India only where people fight 2 call backward, & its their pride being called backward.
