Indian team was only the team capable of winning world cup - we chose this Trojan Horse and we lost - perhaps the team was best under Saurav although Kapil and Dhoni have the credit to win world cup. Kapil team was better as it played under different playing conditions with too many just about average players but the passion and commitment is un matchable. Dhoni's team was more hyped and also the conditions were absolutely fitting their requirements plus at this time BCCI muscle was too much with dope . Even then Saurav has best team but the worst ever coach - whose main job was to sabotage the efforts . Finally coming to Dravid - may be he was a rare gentleman from ndia in Gentlemen's game which I can not say the same to many Mymbai greats of the game - they were parochial and also too arrogant and totally biased.

what are you talking about? when saurav captained indian in wc john wright was our coach? are you claiming that he was the worst ever coach?

and btw let me tell you if you are blaming greg chappell it was ganguly himself who was responsible for him being our coach. it was ganguly who wanted greg as a coach insisted upon him and got what he wanted.

Well, May be Greg Chappel has lot of knowledge about cricket but i think he was not a good coach. there are so many people who have knowledge but can not be a good coach. Indian team was doing better before Greg joined Indian team, after that what happened we know..we continued losing matches. team got divided and he can not keep team united..and that is the job of a coach to keep team united. A good coach has to change his strategy and coaching style as per circumstances based on kind of students they have, but Greg did not do that. Every person has different way of learning. After Greg new coach contributed and we started winning. you can not say we lost 2-3 years when greg was there and then started winning b/c of Greg. At the end final stats matters..we lost then we won and Greg tenure. He was a Big Zero.

well said.He was not a good coach. He created partiality in Team India. he spoiled sehwag's carrer amd Irfan pathan's potential. in my view after azhar- vadehar, gary kristen- dhoni combination was the best. now flectcher spoiled team indias sprit.

when greg was our coach also we were winning many times....except wc dravid was quite successful...we won something like 17 odis in succession while chasing, away test series win like in wi and eng and also a series draw in sa i think which is also creditable...
Only a few played for India like Rahul. To name some were Kapil Dev, G.R. Vishwanath, Syed Kirmani, Mohinder Amarnath and Lakshman. Just because Ganguly and Sachin does not like Greg it is not necessary for the whole of India to dislike him. These Pseudo-gods could not get along well with Greg because of personality clashes. So be it. Rahul was a great Captain and even a better crickter and even more a better human being.
