Why not Tendulkar?
by priyabrata Pattanaik on Jan 14, 2012 11:32 PM  | Hide replies

Because none of the ex-players have the guts to say that. Dravid saved the blushes in England but he is not able to do it here. Others will also have to pitch in. He was the only one contributing last year. Ganguly seems to be settling his own personal scores with Dravid.

No mention of Sehwag
by desi twist on Jan 14, 2012 11:15 PM

Surprising that none of the ex player chose to mention Sehwag. His performance has been worse than VVS, Dravid and Dhoni. He has to go first.

dhoni as a captain
by kaala bandhar on Jan 14, 2012 10:36 PM

there are several factors to be looked in before one can be called as the most successful captain.its just not the victories alone or the success% a cricket captain. One shd also see the era at which hes captaining.Dhoni has performed well as captain and one cannot take away the credit from him but on the overseas fron he falls under the same category as any other indian captain to win overseas frequently.hes has captain an indian team during post invicible period of aussies and a SA team which has nt been the same as it used to during aussies invincible period.but its doesnt mean one can take away the credit of dhonis captaincy.the winning % of other teams also have increased post aussies invincible period.yes dhonis to his creidt has t20 and wc triumph under his credit.the nos of drawn test macthes also have reduced in recent times where most of the test matches produce results which aslo makes his winning % more.May be one has to wait and see after dratsic changes are made into the indian team and how dhoni takes it fwd from there.just like wat clarke has bee doing for aus by leading from the front during new aus team.Dhoni can stil lconitnue as a captain with young lads in the team and groom them which hes capable of.Lets wait and watch wat the selectors have to say.

Double standards
by vicky on Jan 14, 2012 09:54 PM  | Hide replies

People are jumping to conclusion to drop the seniors. But dropping the seniors is not the solution. India never got a good start in England nor in Australia. Dravid is coming in almost as an opener. This has been causing pressure on the middle order. There is no proper support to Zaheer in the bowling department. Ishant is not able to get breakthroughs, Yadav is taking wickets but giving away too many runs. The opposition is scoring runs without any pressure and putting up decent scrores which in turn is adding pressure on our batsmen. Unfortunately the so called ex-players are not able to find out the reasons for the failure and are harping on removing the seniors. Its sad that such amateurist comments come from ex-players who themselves have faced such challenging situations in their playing days. Some of these ex-players are in Australia only. What is stopping them from helping out the Indian team in these bad times. Instead of sitting in A/C boxes and blabbering cant they help out the team? Height of double standards!!!
