Madan Lal & others : Why not SACHIN?
by sivasunder munukutla on Jan 14, 2012 08:48 PM  | Hide replies

Madan Lal & others shud look beyond just VVS & Dravid at SACHIN as well. Why don't they do that? Either they do not have the guts or it is plain bias towards players from North and South. What is SACHIN doing now a days rather than whiling away his time meandering towards the seemingly far away 100th Century. Hope he looks at it a bit positively and avoid spoiling his image which is already taking a dent in his quest for that record. He shud quit gracefully the way players of yester years like Vishy, Gavaskar and others did once they realized that their days were over. VVS, Dravid and SACHIN also shud come out gracefully on their own rather than getting the sack. Less said about Dhoni the better!

Why not Sachin ? I will answer. Just check the statistics of last three overseas test series. He was the India's highest run-getter in SA (2010-11), second higest run-getter in England (2011) and now leading run-getter in current series in Australia. If he needs to be sacked, then all other batsmen needs to be sacked first!

Why only Dravid?
by Shaana Kauwa on Jan 14, 2012 08:45 PM

Why only Dravid and Laxman? Dravid was called as the best test cricketer of the year and recieved the Polly Umrigar Award last year? Why cant Ganguly take Sachin's name? Is he scared of the criticism he will have to face later? Also Ganguly said Dravid has no guts to stop Chappel, whereas Ganguly has not guts to take Sachins Name..

Madan Lal should mind his business if any
by Orient Mystique on Jan 14, 2012 08:44 PM  | Hide replies

No point in venting jealousy against India's best captain ever, i.e. Dhoni.

It is said that 1000 hands are not sufficient to hide the Sun.

2000 ex players are insufficient to defame and obliterate the gem called Dhoni.

I am a south Indian and have no regional feelings in praising Dhoni.

I am convinced that at the moment what is required is

1. BCCI should became sane and reduce the number of games / tournaments that Indian team plays

2. There should be proper rotation policy for players to remain healthy and fit

3. Deadwood should be axed summarily - it is wrong to allow them the privilege of deciding when to go, when they are unable to think objectively. Selectors need to wield the axe.

4. Dhoni should remain captain for another 4 years or so in all forms of the game. Appointing stop gap captains like Viru and Gambhir because of congested schedule of play brings in indiscipline and lack of harmony in the team.

5. Dhoni should be drafted as a member of the selection committee and should also be given veto powers. He knows the utility and value of the current crop of players much better and closely than the likes of Madan Lal, Ganguly, Kapil Dev, Bishen Bedi etc.

true, no ex crickter has acheived what dhoni has, so they dont have a right to speak about him. moreover, its time dhoni is given a free had to choose the players he wants, and run the team the way he wants to, and time too..somethign similar to Clive Llyod in the 70s

BCCI wants only T20

to make quick bucks. The first test went till 5th day. Second test ended on the 4th day. Now the third test will end within 3 days. So Indians are gearing up for the IPL. They dont have any interest in test cricket.

IPL is going to kill India' Test cricket. Everybody - whether players or BCCI is only interested in IPL money. Since the inception of IPL, BCCI is getting more and more involved in IPL - like addition of new team, sacking of existing team, Lalit Modi episode, increasing the duration of IPL etc. Nothing is being done for test cricket ( and for that matter, even for ODI's). BCCI's energy and committment is towards IPL. It is really painful to see a player of Sachin's calibre and status prefering IPL over matches with other countries!

Chemistry of the Indian team went wrong from the two BCCI decisions.

1. Naming Dravid who was absolutly droped in ODI, as part of the team for the ODI searies in England. What was the need of such a glorification? He was a burden in ODI from the time of Azhar.

2. Droping Yuvi who is a key member who animates and supports Dohni whole heartedtly 100%.

A man who fought to win the World cup is not supported by BCCI,then what will be my condition thinks every member of Indian team. That has caused panic. Yuvi had never been given a comfortable test chance. Couple of good matches and good guidance would bring in him rapid progress. I am not telling that BCCI will not give him chances, I am certain that when he is fit they will give chance to him.But the news in the media and other things reputed like he was just not included. That has something to do with the team think tank.

captaincy
by chandran on Jan 14, 2012 08:41 PM  | Hide replies

It is ridiculous to comment about Dhoni's captaincy when top five senior players failed. Who are the former players? - whether they proved at least something better than Dhoni. He is the most shrewed captain India ever produced. Gavaskar, Sachin and Dravid have run away from captaincy. Certain extent proved Azar was stamped for fixing. Ganguly, though emotional was thrown away due to politics. When commenting agst Dhoni, whether any body could suggest for a better. We including the media always talk of the black spot forgetting the good. The media and Indians only created the tension to Sachin for a record. With a different mindset other than winning no one can play better.

bang on. No indian captain ever has acheived what dhoni has achieved as captain. So its time Dhoni is given a hand and time to do what he wants to with the team.something similar to what clive lyod in the 70s

I just can't remember any test captain who hasn't scored a test hundred in australia, south africa, england, newzealand, west indies and so on. Dhoni may be a good one day captain but he is certainly a flat wicket bully.

Did you know, in his entire career of more than 20 years - 51 centuries - 15000 runs, Sachin has been the man of the match for a test win outside subcontinent only once that was against New Zealand in Hamilton. March 2009. Now, does sachin play for records or victories..its your guess
