Why Tendulkar does not open in Tests???
by Indian on Jan 14, 2012 09:15 PM  | Hide replies

As he is the most gifted and best bastman that India has, why doesn't he open with Gambhir and allow Sehwag to come down the order..
In ODI's he wants to open the batting whereas in Tests he wishes to protect his position...

I feel the reason is, in ODI's its pretty easy to score runs at the start as the field restrictions r in place.. In Tests u do not have that advantage. He prefers to come lower down the order when the bowlers r a bit tired and the ball is old and not moving much.....
Seems like a smart move which has paid him rich dividends while concealing his abilities to tackle swing bowling.

Does anybody of you has courage to speak about Sachin, who is cosistently performing badly. But it is easy for you to call for laxman or Dravid head.Howmany innigs Dravid failed & howmany innings sachin failed in last 15 test. Yes everybody want India to win. But please speak the truth.

Dhoni as a captain
by kaala bandhar on Jan 14, 2012 09:10 PM

there are several factors to be looked in before one can be called as the most successful captain.its just not the victories alone or the success% a cricket captain. One shd also see the era at which hes captaining.Dhoni has performed well as captain and one cannot take away the credit from him but on the overseas fron he falls under the same category as any other indian captain to win overseas frequently. One shd take into account the era where dhoni has captained.hes has captain an indian during post invicible period of aussies and a SA team which has nt been the same as it used to during aussies invincible period.but its doesnt mean one can take away the credit of dhonis captaincy.the winning % of other teams also have increased post aussies invincible period.yes dhonis to his creidt has t20 and wc triumph under his credit.the nod of drawn test macthes also have reduced in recent times where most of the test matches produce results which aslo makes his winning % more.May be one has to wait and see after dratsic changes are made into the indian team and how dhoni takes it fwd from there.just like wat clarke has bee doing for aus by leading from the front during new aus team.Dhoni can stil lconitnue as a captain with young lads in the team and groom them which hes capable of.Lets wait and watch wat the selectors have to say.

Did you know, in his entire career of more than 20 years - 51 centuries - 15000 runs, Sachin has been the man of the match for a test win outside subcontinent only once that was against New Zealand in Hamilton. March 2009. Now, does sachin play for records or victories..its your guess. stats courtesy - cricinfo

Sachin's Average in India's winning matches is 66.59...(Courtesy -cricinfo). In Most wins Sachin has a major part. Don't count the centuries alone

its not about centuries only my friend. A match where india won outside subcontinent where sachin was man of the match - there has only been one instance in 20 years of his career.no doubt he has played supporting roles, but as a top contibutor for victory he has done only once outside subcontinent - where dravid has been man of match of 5 wins outside subcontinent

and in that series too , bowling of NZ was poor , and most indian batsmen scored . No real challenge or pressure was there

Sachin hasalwys played for his own record at the cost of nation.just remembr his inings when he used to get slow around 50 n 100 and to hide this more bowl less run average he used to play fast after 50 n 100.
just analysis any of his centuries.

no doubt sachin is great talent what is sad to see..bowlers like anderson calling sachin his bunny, saeed ajmal, bishoo toubling him. and now these young aussie quicks calling him just another batsmen..had it been 10 yrs back, even ferocious bowlers donald, akram couldnt stop him.

ex players call for Dhoni's head
by Mr Ekbote on Jan 14, 2012 09:01 PM  | Hide replies

history is replete with examples in india, that heroes are forgotten immediately when the retire. lal bahadur shastri, lala lajpat rai,etc.. Dravid is a real hero who has played for the country... we should respect and give due respect and honour their contributions to the cricket. we tend to get hyper with a WIN and express ANGER when we LOSE.. lets evaluate the entire series objectively and then make a proper judgement... lets not be in a hurry to close the careers of our great players..

lala lajpatrai? lal bahadur shastri? these great people never RETIRED, dude but kept of doing job to the best of their abilities. and how is that relevant to cricket players?
what is shameful in present Australia series is the lack of application showed by most of the players and the meek surrender. however, this is not an issue of national importance, where one should drag shastriji and lala lajpat rai for the comparison
