Couple of things to be done Some Old timers given a pat on the back & said well played mate time to hang the gloves.Non performers shown the door like Harbhajan was .Make players feel the heat for spots in the team Perform or grt out Brood more youngsters in every series. Play more away tours than home tours . Have the India A Team tour England Australia Westindies South africa more often & pick consistent players .Dhoni needs to be taken off Test cptaincy to focus on One days Have new captains for Tests & T20 .Have a rotation policy for Sr Players & fast bowlers every series.

Flaws in coach, team management and selection
by prakash thakur on Jan 10, 2012 02:21 AM

This very similar team have performed exceedingly well in overseas Test/ODIs prior to England series. Yes, one of the problems could be too much focus on ODIs, IPLs have compromised their skills, techniques and temperament. However, the same team can still be unbeatable in home Test series against best of the opponents and in ODIs both home and away.

To revive Test glory, I would suggest to reconsider the coaching and team management changes. Duncan Fletcher may be a respected coach, but I think he is too old now and cannot rally the team forward and may not be very suitable for Indian team at the moment. Get a new coach, like Stephen Fleming or someone else who is in his 40s and young enough to join practice sessions. In terms of bowling, apart from Zaheer, we have good bowlers, but not great! Bowling requires great physique, stamina and skills. Selection committee have to work on that and groom the right ones.

BCCI and Selection process to be blamed
by santosh kamat on Jan 09, 2012 01:44 PM  | Hide replies

According to me our Selection process and overall BCCI is responsible for the debacle of our team abroad .As proved during the westindies series Chetan chouhan the chief of pitch curator committee openly said that the instructions to make feather beds and dead wickets were given by the authorities this proves our cricket team is only interested in improving on the records and performance in India .And we would always struggle on true and fast pitches abroad .Nowadays infact our selection go on IPL performances which has become an benchmark for the players for getting selected .I wonder if we ever to get to see another Sachin , Dravid or an Laxman in future in Indian cricket.

I would not blame BCCI for making spinner friendly tracks in India. Why are we so excited in making fast tracks in India? Can Australia, SA, England, WI and NZ really bat on spinning tracks? They too lose tests abroad (in the sub continent). When we lose test matches in England and Australia we make a big scene of it. They play to their strengths in their home and we play to our in our home. Nothing wrong in that. Why don't you ask them to make spinner friendly tracks there?

About IPL, I think the players have the right to think about earning money. They too have families and mouth to feed. It is their job. Am not saying that they should totally neglect the country. They should give it their all when playing for the nation. Look at what Malinga did. He can earn more in one day (3 hours of a IPL match) than in 5 days of a test match. Don't blame him for that decision. At least he is decent enough to move out of the way and give others a chance. Have you seen how Wayne Rooney and others play when they play for their country? Pathetic Soccer. But they are great to watch in the Premier League. It's all about money. If you guys are criticizing so much why don't you guys go and play for India? It is always easy to make comments and bring others down. Perhaps we should all comment on your work at your office and criticize you for a shabby job you do on a daily basis !!!

Change of management is in need
by sumith roul on Jan 09, 2012 11:10 AM

Before looking at what is wrong with the Indian Cricket team, you must look at the management. All the BCCI cares about is money and inspite of being the richest board in the world,India lacks good quality stadiums and pitches.Just look at the stadiums in other countries.Do they have any cricketing vision, other than making their bank balance bigger?Cricketers like Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar who shed their blood and sweat for the game must be elected.Ex-cricketers must contest in the otherwise rigged cricket elections and try and make some ammends.

These days when watching cricket,I get a strong feeling that most of the matches are fixed. As if that was not enough,we have something called spot-fixing.I hate to say this, but thanks to too much cricket and usless adminstrators my interest in this game has gone. What is the point of hitting 300 individual score in India where the pitch lacks bounce and swing, when the same player gets duck out twice in the same test.

It is good to have a captian with a cool head. But unfortunately that shows that he has no passion.Great players and captians like Imran Khan was passionate about the game and his players. It is good to keep a cool head during testing times, but what about individual performances.Dhoni has hardly performed well in last few years, except in the World Cup finals, don't ask me how.

A lot of changes are needed in this otherwise boring team, which will otherwise fail to win a single match abroad.

Cut down the revenue
by neha enterprise on Jan 09, 2012 10:58 AM

he real reason why indian cricket is going down, is Advertisement revenue and IPL revenue, The BCCI should introduce the clause that any money earned from advertisement and event management 99% of the earned money should be given back to BCCI, Since BCCI is responsible for the status earned by our cricketers, if this stops automatically our cricketer would put in effort, all peny earnd should be worked hard.

Burdened by Sachin's 100th Ton
by Jijoy Joshua on Jan 09, 2012 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

Nothing is wrong, they are just overburdened by Sachin's 100th Ton. If he had scored that before coming on this tour, every team member would have concentrated on their own performance. Even the opposition is on ahigh when they get hin out before getting to that 100 and the Indian team follows Sachin back to the pavillion like beaten lambs
