THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TEAM.THE PLAYERS PLAYING TO THEIR CAPACITY. THE FACT IS THEY ARE OVERHYPED AND PROJECTED TO CATCH EYEBALLS AND MILK TV ADVERTISING .THEY MAY WIN A ODD TEST OR SERIES WHEN THE CONDITIONS SUIT.HOWEVER THE PLAIN TRUTH IS THIS AUSTRALIAN TEAM IS TOO GOOD FOR THEM TO HANDLE.WHEN THE REALITY HITS US WE FEEL BAD AND TRY TO FIND REASONS .THATS ALL.
It is simple that Rahul Dravid and the top order need to play defensively against Ben and score against the rest. He is a vastly improved bowler and the difference between the 2 teams.
Separate One day and T20 team from test team. There cannot be players playing in both the formats at the same time. It is apparent how the Indians got out in second innings when one big wicket fell. Two or three wickets fell successively due to rash shots. Also lapse in concentration after putting up a decent total is also due to the perils of one day cricket. Whats the need for laxman to score quickly on day 4? Tendulkar got out to a mediocre delivery mainly because of lack of concentration... In test cricket its the temperament - like sunny gavaskar possessed - thats crucial. Tendulkar is in that mould and so is Dravid, but mixing up one days and test cricket just kills their ability to focus... so much seems lacking when there a quality bowling attack has to be faced for a sustained period of time (i.e without any time limits..)
This has been an issue since the days of Srikkanth who scored quick runs in one dayers only to repeatedly fail in test matches... because test match requires greater skills and technique on a sustained basis.. which poor srikkanth did not have in good measure..
Now INdian team has so many srikkanth's in the form of sehwag, kohli, raina, gambhir, vvs, sachin etc... this translation of performance from one form to the other is the root cause of our batsmen failing repeatedly on quality tracks
How the opponents do?.. thats probably because they also have good bowling attack and another area which is lacking for India.
IPL is the main culprit for the poor performance of our batsmen in overseas seaming & bouncing wickets.
We're unable to groom young players by exposing them to bouncy and seaming wickets for domestic tournaments. Rather most of the talented lots today practice on flat, low-bouncy surfaces to succeed in IPL. In stead of focussing on playing with a straight bat & moving their feet to reach the line of the pitching of the delivery they practice playing unorthodox shots like scoops, clearing out front leg to heave waist-high deliveries towards mid-wicket. This is just gully cricket and not the technique to survive in overseas pitches where the ball will both seam and bounce. Today the batsmen are hesitant to go onto front-foot to meet the short of length deliveries.
Even the bowlers have not learnt to maintain line & length which is so very important in test matches. Therefore even in bowler friendly pitches also they struggle and the opposition score easily.
Today, even an aging Ponting can score a century in difficult conditions because our bowlers are wayward and indisciplined whereas the likes of Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Gambhir all fail because the Aussie bowlers are disciplined and focussed.
Remove IPL, bring back good test match batsmen & bowlers or India should stop playing test matches abroad.
If India loses the current series 4-0, I won't be surprised though I will be happy to be proved wrong.

Well said, excellent point! Until they think about doing to the pitches in India, things are never going to improve. There is no respect if you win the big Tournaments in flat pitches!
respected BCCI: 1/IPL pitches for 2012 -fast pitches 2/youngsters of Indian origin should be promoted and encoraged by media aswell ahead of........in IPL 3/no one should be axed.Only playing for Indian should not be based on livelong reservation. 4/coach of team India should not be a silencer that sleeps habitual between 2 and 4 pm when a testmatch is ongoing because sunglasses does not give enough protection.

We have not had a single good opening stand that lasted the first two hours of the innings . In 2003 - 04 and 2007 - 08 , the openers did not score many runs - but they were playing for time . This gave the rest of the batsmen to follow a "cushion" of time . Just my humble opinion . Just my humble opinion .
Although the need for rebuilding of a young side has been talked about for long but the selectors are not ready to take tough decisions. The single biggest hurdle for rebuilding the side is Sachin Tendulkar whose selfish motive no one wants to call in question. While team India is undergoing humiliating defeats one after another this great man says he is 'enjoying cricket'. He is supposed to be cricketing God and one of the best cricketer on earth , then why is it that he is not able to stay on the crease and save the match for India even once ? Given his stature, at the SCG should he not have played a match saving long innings and hit a double century ? But what he does ? Gets out to a ‘part time bowler’ playing a defensive jab and India loses by an innings. On the top of it he has the cheek to say he is enjoying cricket! The tragedy is no body with even a little say in Indian cricket is ready to question this selfish fellow' commitment to team India. Just yesterday, Saurav Ganguly opined that if Sachin switches to defensive tactics at this stage then he better quits cricket and plays some other game. Only one TV channel aired this news and rest of the media blacked it out completely. If this is the state of affairs then how can Indian cricket improve ? He is proving to be a too big a distraction for the side for any hope for better.
in my opinioin team india is far away from attacking cricket and it all started from the tour of westindies where they didint go for a modrate target to win a match where all the commentaters and whole of india thinks that they go for the win they stay away from that and decides to draw the match and after that they havnt won a single match outside india since then and for this I blame the captan dhoni he said after the that match that we might also loose the game if we chase the target, that was the time when dhoni should be droped from the team for that decision as we are now in a big trouble as we lost the winning awys and also no replecment for the TRIO and in addotion dhoni dosent want to play in worldcup 2015 ask him why? he wants to destry the indian team. saurav ganguly gave india the team that know how to win and dhoni given us a team who know only got defeted.

he real reason why indian cricket is going down, is Advertisement revenue and IPL revenue, The BCCI should introduce the clause that any money earned from advertisement and event management 99% of the earned money should be given back to BCCI, Since BCCI is responsible for the status earned by our cricketers, if this stops automatically our cricketer would put in effort, all peny earnd should be worked hard.
In India they are arranging the pitch suitable for spin bowling and spin bowlers as well as the medium fast bowlers getting the advantage in bowling side . where as in foreign pitches healthy fast bowling only will kick and this world class batting line up will work in India only
