If the team is ZIZAG than whats ENGLAND suppose to do about this.
See the performance in all 3 department e.g.bat,bowling and fielding.
so it dosent make any difference with whom you are playing ,,,difference is how you are playing.
Any way ENG is already added for Semi

Babu:

:) So a result of 1-6 in a seven match series tells you HOW excellent England played? :)

Maybe if they had lost the seven match series 0-25; THEN you'd have removed them from the Semis... eh? :)

Poor Ponting afraid that Minnow may Beat Aussies
by Senthil on Feb 21, 2011 11:26 AM

Come on Ricky, they are here to get more exposure and if only 8 Teams plays it's not a World Cup either.

But next time 12 teams in 2 groups play league and top 2 team from Each for Group qualify for Semis. This will be Shorter, Sweeter and make Happy of Associate teams, they get 3 Teams from their Level.

ideal format
by dorkymoron on Feb 21, 2011 11:26 AM

go with a 8 or 10 team round robin(dropping zimbabwe and bangladesh debatable)

you will have 45 matches to play if it is 10 team rr

pick top 4 teams for semifinals

in 1992 this format was used and I think this is the best till date.

in this format every team gets to play every other team.

Ideal Format

Choose the 10 best teams. Categorize them into two groups. Have them play twice in each group. Pick the two best teams from each group for the semis. This idea is quoted from what is being employed in IPL....

I agree. Only such format will bring out best team as Champion. India and Pakistan not in the second round and Kenya entering semifinal shows how ridiculous is the format of World Cup.

Srilankans are best known to feast on Minnows
by hariharan s on Feb 21, 2011 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

Srilankans have a habit of creating records when they play against minnows....398 against kenya in 96....443 against netherlands...and 260 against kenya in t20....Chaminda Vaas 8-19 against Zimbabwe

I think Sachin's record of 200 is at stake when Dilshan or Sangakkara meets Kenya or Zimbabwe

Do not forget that India and Pakistan have the habit of losing to minnows! Sri Lanka has at least proved to the World why their opponents were called minnows.

Very good points , Sri Lanks are the biggest demolishers of the minnows , Murali is simply unplayable by teams who havnt ever seen him.

The only thing which is making Ozies , favorite in WC winning race is their Past record,
Other wise current conditions and zigzag performance is not giving any sign they can move further to QFinals anymore
So last 4 could be India south Africa Sri Lanka apkistan or England

You mean Semi Finals....

But good that you give England a chance despite their "fantastic" performance against a zigzag team... :)

Dhoni at National games venue..
by om shanti on Feb 21, 2011 10:58 AM

Indian cricket’s blue-eyed boy Mahendra Singh Dhoni today paid a surprise visit to the Jaipal Singh Munda Mega Sports Complex in Hotwar along with deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahto. High on enthusiasm after India’s scintillating win against Bangladesh in the World Cup opener yesterday, Mahi touched down in Ranchi, via Calcutta, and said he was glad to miss a few winks to keep this date with his hometown. He promised his fans a great show in the ongoing cricket carnival. “Wait and watch,” he sounded almost enigmatic. “We have a long way to go.” Pairing a camel blazer with T-shirt and jeans, the Team India skipper spent more than half an hour at the athletics venue as Ranchi’s Sunday crowd swelled to catch a glimpse of its favourite son. Mahi took centre stage, honouring winners of the 400m (men) hurdles with medals, and later exchanged pleasantries with other athletes. Earlier in the afternoon, he paid a visit to the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Morabadi, where Jharkhand played Goa to a draw. On the Games infrastructure in the capital, he said it was indeed world-class and would help the state hone its sporting skills. Mahi is scheduled to leave early on Monday for Bangalore, where India play England in their second World Cup fixture on February 26.
