Kallis got out
by Ashish Kumar on Dec 29, 2010 07:55 PM

The sight of Kallis getting was truly heart warming. Indians paid the Proteas back in their own coin. Congrats to Srisanth!

WALL TITLE TO BE HANDED OVER TO LAXMAN!
by Ranganath S on Dec 29, 2010 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

I think Dravid should hand over the Wall title to Laxman - like we have the miss universe crown handover every year! Dravid would become one of the greatest man in front of the cricket lovers!

Once Dravid becomes commentator like Ravi Shastri and Srinath which would be not too far in future, the title will pass on automatically. No need to take it away for old times' sake.

Selfish Sachin
by nirmal coumare on Dec 29, 2010 07:53 PM  | Hide replies

Good job by VVS. The amount of oppurtunity sachin has got despit his poor performance and the same if ganguly, dravid and laxman would have got, even they would have scored 50tons easily. Sachin plans his selfish game very well meticulously.
1. He get adequate chances even he fails to score in more than ten matches.
2. Comes back after breaks in name of injury and settles doen well to score a 50 or 100.
3. Comes as opener scores a hundred and then goes back to pavilion getting out.
4. India has lost matches when sachin has scored a century.
5. sachin is never a match winner unless like bevan, waugh and ponting.
6. he should gracefully retire and he not doing so just for the sake of comercials.
7. sachin not worth barath ratna.
8. media are stupiod comparing bradman with sachin.
9. no other indian batsmen got chances like him despite failing in several matches.
BOTTOM LINE: SELFISH SACHIN SHOULD RETIRE GRACEFULLY.

check the stats. just making some absurd comment. go check how many times india won when he scored. only when india loses everybody blames sachin. why not dravid and others. nobody blamed laxman for 1st test lost

We should not criticise Sachin. In fact we should respect him. Obviously, he is not getting younger and cannot be expected to have reflexes of his youth. He is bound to have limitation in such conditions but when the things are not so difficult, he brings into the team such quality as no other batsman in the world can.
His above mentioned failings notwithstanding it must be admitted that his value addition far outweighs his burden on the team due to failures referred.

MEDIA comparing SACHIN with BRADMAN is null and void. SACHIN can't even stand BRADMAN

Does anyone at least heard of uncovered pitches?

Does anyone know that BRADMAN practiced with a stump during nets?

Its not stupid people commenting on legend but its true facts when you analyse in depth my dear. Most of our indian players would have been legends if they had a backing what sachin has today.
ganguly scored in ten thousand runs in ODI s in short span. Sachin is truely selfish, may be a day would come were both sachin Sr and Sachin Jr would open innings for india.

Bradman is a hype created by aussies..a good batsman, turned into a god playing few bowlers and fielding, well u need to see the youtube to figure out your self..Just go and spend 100 balls and all will result into some runs...and how much time he took 20 years..so he played 2-3 match per year..wow no wear and tear to his body and that also he had just one shoaib/dale/marshal called Larwood...What a hype..Lot of Indians are always gora worshippers..so it does not disappoint me to read the comments..Even world # 1 teams captain, Dhoni said Sachin is better than bradman..

1. when did he fail so many times which is bothering u... and do u think he is not performing now whereas all others are..
2. does scoring 50/100 looking so easy for u, have u ever weild bat..
3. is it so easy to face new ball, how many openers do u know who performed well being openers, especially with his average and strike rates..
4. India also had won many matches when he scored century..
5. all australians u quoted were part of one of the best australian teams in their cricketing history, its natural to perform well when other members are doing well.
6. find a better replacement for him to retire.. and its non-sense to ask him so when u look back his performance in 2010.
7.may be.. we will give it MGR, and other politicians..
8.I agree, times different..
9. don't agree.. atleast tell their names and performance levels in terms of averages, scoring to compare with him..

BOTTOMLINE:THERE IS NO NEED TO REPLACE HIM WHEN INDIA IS WINNING AND HE IS DOING GREAT

Agreed my dear bro. Did u forget they way sachin let india down in chennai against pak, was not able to score last ten fifteen runs and was crying like a.....of course scoring 50 &100 are difficult for you and me but its nothing for a man who played cricket for more than two decades. tell me one indian batsmen who got the same backing and chances like sachin. You will not find a replacement beacuse no indian will play for more than two decades like him with the ploitical backing he has.

what is that backing.. a player performs well, and he is playing what's the problem for you..
if we go by the way u think, we will be having new 11 every three months.
Iam also asking tell me one player who played like him.. is it possible to score the way he does, while not playing for the team.
India lost against Pak, then what other players were doing.. he was not the last wicket out then..

so with one match u concluded he is not good... that isn't enough.. he fought, and if Iam not wrong he was injured then and was in much discomfort, still he batted and scored 130 runs I guess..

India could have lost
by Rivka Mishra on Dec 29, 2010 07:52 PM  | Hide replies

I found the win a tad unconvincing. India got two important decisions in their favour - that of de Villiers and Boucher. Boucher's decision was a shocker.

If de Villiers and Boucher hadn't been given out in this way, I'm not entirely convinced India would have won - especially considering that the tail managed to reduce the margin to only 87.

PLEASE NOTE THAT 87 OUT OF 303 IS STILL 30 pc LESS.....
we were lucky that bad light ended the day yesterday, giving chance to indian pacers to exploit morning conditions, the match was sealed when we took 4 wickets in the first session.
in short 87 run difference on this pitch is quite big, pl also note that laxman was the onl guy who scored a fifty in the entire match

Great win
by vijay M on Dec 29, 2010 07:50 PM

This victory is very very special simply because India won on a fierce, bouncy pitch where the ball is swinging and seaming all the time.
Any other Indian team would have struggled to even survive two sessions on this track, let alone draw and impossibly, win a test match.
For example, India played a test match in Durban some years ago on a similar track where SA were bowled out for 235. India made 100 and 66.
Just goes to show how this team is miles ahead of any other team in the past and it reflects in their performance and ranking. They are consistent in their victories both in and outside India, which was not a feature in the previous sides.
I hope India also grooms young batsmen because it will be hard to replace legends like Sachin, Dravid and VVS. Otherwise they will go back to being very poor tourists like in the past.
