Laxman's was a great knock... especially when we lost 7 wickets for 170 , his knock was very much required to ensure this victory. But we should not forget contribution of Zaheer with Bat, who scored 27, in a partnership with Laxman for 70 runs, and faced more than 60 deliveries.. (this is what expected while batting with tail-ender, one should hold one end)... Next, Harbhajan, very good bowling.. hope his confidence is back with this match.
Overall, its great Indian victory.. after losing vital toss..

I think Zaheer made huge difference, he removed both the openers including Greame smith in the first innings very quickly.. His presence in the team bucks-up the bowling attack..
Here are few of them. But considering the stature he enjoys as GOD_OF_CRICKET the below is negligible.
1) Chennai 1999 Test Vs Pakistan
2) 2003 World Cup Vs Pakistan
3) Decades ago he played in Sharjah.
Rest of all his innings (including the 200 not out) have either come when the score line read 200/1 in tests or it could be the NOTHING_TO_LOSE innings like those of Harbhajan Vs NZ or he would open the batting in ODIs with the best of batting friendly and fielding restricted conditions...

Yes they are 'COUNTABLE' on fingers over 20 year long career.

Every one knows Sachin and records go hand in hand. The eyebrow is only on the position when Sachin scores...

u cannot make records if u cannot perform... let it be any game.. And if u don't perform, u will not be rewarded..

Records can also come in the following conditions:
Most of all his innings (including the 200 not out) have either come when the score line read 200/1 in tests or it could be the NOTHING_TO_LOSE innings like those of Harbhajan Vs NZ or he would open the batting in ODIs with the best of batting friendly and fielding restricted conditions...

To all sachin bashers here are the plain stats out of his 50 centuries India has won 24 times, drawn 14 times & lost just 12 times now consider his 50 plus scores in low scoring tests, then on many occassions when the tests have been drawn & sachin has scored 100 or 50 scores most of the time its because of his scores. And ever since Sachin has started palying India has maximum of 45-50 tests and his participation(read centuries) is in 24 tests so this proves that not all his centuries have been wasted.

Another Great Win and another nill contribution from the So called Master . Thank God he was not there in the T20 WC squad , else we would have been deprived of the WC . One thing is for sure - He is the Greatest batsman of the Dead pitches - pitches that has nothing to offer to the bowlers

When India needs someone - It is Dravid and Laxman (Yuvi in case of ODI)....Tendlia is the first one to go back to the pavilion with his tail between his legs . Time and again it has been proved , when in Need Laxman and Dravid are the men . Even Zaheer and Bhaaji is better than him

Mr Vaibhav and Mr Maximum, I think u guys have seen too much 20-20 thats why you can't judge a batsman abilities. Even a batsman like Kallis could't cope up with the unplayable delivery. You should understand that different pitch requires different skill in batting. Sachin has scored loads of runs on bouncy tracks also. When Test rating points hadn't started and foreign teams like Australia and England invites only those teams to tour which contains best players, that time they invite India only to show Sachin Tendulkar's batting to their spectators and to test thir bowlers against great Sachin Tendulkar. In those tour Sachin was the only batsman who salvage the pride of India on Bouncy and Gracey tracks be it Australia, West Indies, England of SA. So think before you speak and if you are talking about Sachin, better think twice !!

vaibhav better u quit the rediff chat ,.,,else people will kill u for such nonsense talks ...
Though India won convincingly, a few questions need to be discussed frankly. Does Rahul Dravid still has it in him to carry on in World's number 1 side? Ditto for Ishant Sharma. I suspect he is hiding his injury for fear of losing his place permanently. No doubt Rahul Dravid has been a very great performer but his reflexes seem to have slowed down with age. He is no Sachin to make up for this deficiency. We should not get carried away by his performance against the lowly Kiwis in home conditions. There is a fierce competition for places in the Indian team and in my opinion Rahul Dravid cannot continue to occupy his position any/much longer. If fails in next Test also, he should give himself a dignified retirement lest he gets dropped like he has been dropped from ODIs

True to some Extent The Pitch made for durban needs Dravid and Laxman no matter what quality the younger lot now that the team current has experience on the pithces batters of current team would have to be applied for their services next time experience counts why there is need for kallis in SA
I think, we won because of Harbhajan, Zaheer, Ishat, Srisanth and ofcoz VVS laxman. We needed very badly Harbhajan takes wickets and he did that. Thank you very much.
can't stand criticism and crib like puppies ... LOL ... but they go on criticizing everyone including the whole nation of india if need be .... india is sachibanized ... sachibanism is dangerous phenomena

We should not criticise Sachin. In fact we should respect him. Obviously, he is not getting youger and cannot be expected to have refleses of his youth. He is bound to have limitation in such conditions but when the things are not so difficult, he brings into the team such quality as no other batsman in the world can.

I am a sachin fan, but i am a laxman fan as well. I agree Laxman played better in this match. Whats your point ? I guess i like both of them, I am an Indian. What is your issue ?

Too many losers on this forum. They criticise achievements of Sachin without paying heed that they themselves have not achieved anything worthy in life. Bye.

Let Laxman save the team in difficult times and go unrecognised. Let Sachin make and break records and enjoy adulation.
