Ask a random passer by, what would you ideally want from Team India? A non fanatic might say World cup . A fanatic might say No1 Test status and world cup. A girl newbie fanatic might say T20 world cup.
And if you ask them why? Answer: It will make Indians proud. A non-fanatic might not even know for how many years we have a world cup.All they know is its a big cup and it will make us proud.
Why are these important anyways? We gave a world cup champion for every 4 years. T20 chapmions for every 2 years. Constant doubts over our No1 status and might not hold onto it for more than 2 years.
20 years down the lane, whats so great about winning 2 world cups (1983,2011) out of 10 world cups so far and almost most of the countries will have the similar record.Whats so great about winning 2011 world cup? Indian are champions from 2011-2015. And that too if we loose 5-2 to Aus or SA, we cant even call them champions for 4 years.

Notable achievements that come to my mind till now 1983 world cup, Titan cup,Hero cup, 96 SF,Sharjah cup, Natwest trophy, 2003 Finals,T20 World cup,CB Series,No1 Test status. Except for No1 status, most countries have similar achievements. But then we have 'SACHIN'.The best bastman ever(Only Bradman can contest). Most of his records will stay alive forever(If you are cricket fanatic, then u will know that most of them are impossible to break).A poll in australia twice this decade said Sachin is the current best player.Ponting was no-where near in those polls. Current and ex-crickets, commenattors, everyone alround the world praise him as the best. That makes me an Indian proud. He is like Dhanychand of Cricket. He is like a Schumacher ,a Pele, a federer, a Tiger woods. 50 years from now, Indian cricket might become like our Hockey. Usa, Canada,Ireland,Afghanisthan might be top 4 teams.Your Grand children might not follow cricket, but they sure will be surprised and happy to hear that the best player, holder or most runs, centuries is an INDIAN. He is a phenomenon that happens once in a life time. I cherish a century from Sachin more than an Indian victory. This insight is just for Non-fanatics to weigh Team Indian against Sachin Achievements. Pakis with Indian names here and other morons with disgruntled lives who have to vent their frustration on someone, can keep trashin Sachin. Infact, its no fun without u guys.Sometimes ur comments make me laugh. Keep coming guys.

why compare bradman... he is no where near sachin the greatest/best ever... bradman was at best a hyped home pitches bully playing about 250 days of international cricket over 20 years mostly with friendly players/bowlers...

also bradman played always with 1 opponent; england. if one man or team always play with same opponent, it would be easier to score runs. also that times there were no computer technic to analyse weakness/strength of a player.
Another record that Sachin can make his own in the next match is the "Highest Runs in a Calendar Year"! The record is currently against Mohammad Yousuf who made 1788 runs in 2007 or 2008. Sachin currently has close to 1700 and he has the chance to overhaul this record in the next match against SA. Good luck Sachin!
Re: Next record awaits Sachin ...
by arvin g on Dec 21, 2010 05:37 AM
that one will be hard to break atleast this year... he needs close to 250 runs in next test to break that... but sachin is known to do what others can only dream of ...

Arvin, you're probably not counting the 147 (36 111) in the just concluded test before which he stood at 1562 runs in the calendar year 2010.
1. Bajrang Lal Thakral ....he had to share a room wd 20 other people 2 practise 4 asian games !!!!!
2. Preeja Sreedharan----had to walk 10 kms to go to his school !!!!
IF THE INDIAN MEDIA GIVES MORE ATTENTION AND GOVT. PROVIDES BETTER FACILITIES TO OTHER SPORTS, THEN YOU WILL FIND MANY MANY SACHIN OF OTHER SPORTS IN INDIA .......

Why not? We are proud of Sachin, no doubt. But at the same time worried also for the sordid state of affairs in Indian Sport which has become non-existent. Media has no time to turn it's attention away from licking Rahul day in & day out because they are showered with titbits from Kangress Masters but will never ever try to highlight the plight of Sports & Sportsmen in India.
If you observe considerably, the quality of cricket has dipped considerably. There is no clear no.1 ever since Australia lost the likes of Glenn Mcgrath, Shane Warne, Gilchrist, Hayden, etc. South Africa is not a high-class unit. They do well at home but are inconsistent outside. England did show some signs of supremacy but even they badly capitulated against an average Australian side. India does exceedingly well on home soil but struggles when it goes to Australia and SA.

India does well as pitches are tailor made. Not sporting like in England,Australia,SA where visiting team has equal chance. In India and SL it is Tailor made to suit their main players, spoon fed pitches.
Can anyone tell why Murlitharan retired after 1st Test.If he had to play 3rd test SriLanka would have won 100%. He was one spinner who could have rolled indian batsman while chasing target. That has been his hallmark. Something Fishy. Some Fixing for India to remain as useless no.1 without bowling standards and winning at home on tailor made non true/sporting pitches.
Re: Why Murlitharan retired-Fixing?
by Huhumba Lulumba on Dec 20, 2010 10:41 PM
Muralitharan announced his retirement way before the India-Sri Lanka test series started. The result of tosses in the 3 matches was not known to him when he announced his retirement.

Just before ist Test. Then why he retired even though he was match winner. Argument here.
It would have been creditable if he was Captain like Bradman, Sobers, Ponting and scored Centuries while guiding the team.Of late there are evenno expectations from this person.Atleast now retire.
THE FACT IS 'GOD' PLAYS FOR PERSONAL RECORDS..HE IS TRYING VERY HARD TO BE THE GREATEST BUT ALAS HE CAN'T BE CUZ THE GREATEST UNDOUBTEDLY IS 'DON' AND WILL REMAIN SO TIME IMMORTAL.. I AM AT LOSS OF WORDS AT TODAY'S END WHERE WE GOT BUNDLED UP SO TAMELY.. I WAS AMUSED BY THE CHARACTER SHOWN BY THE SO CALLED 'GOD'.. FOR HIM THE 'MISSION' WAS OVER YESTERDAY AFTER SCORING HIS 50TH CENTURY, REST ALL WAS SECONDARY FOR HIM.. WAKE UP GUYS AND COME TO TERMS THAT 'GOD' IS NOT OUR SAVIOUR FOR FUTURE.. ENOUGH OF THIS MEDIA HYPE..
Re: SACHIN PLAYING FOR PERSONAL MILESTONES

don the home pitches will remain the greatest ever for morons... and stray street barking dogz will continue barking at each sachin's milestone...
Re: SACHIN PLAYING FOR PERSONAL MILESTONES
by Aneesh Ramachandran on Jan 05, 2011 02:28 PM
Sunil,, even to play for personal record you need caliber and ability. can you play cricket and make records? after 50th century rest was secondary? what is the rest? His 50th century will not count with indian total? match referee deducted his 100 runs from the total score? if a person play for personal or national interest, the runs he scores will be added to the team total. then why dogs like you bark too much? the problems with aholes like you is simple jealous. everybody knows that. why you jealous? it is because of sachin's money? or his fitness in 37th age? or he has stolen your s1sterr? whats your problem? As an indian i am so proud of any player if they make a world record. stupids like you doesn't like another indian going up! a typical indian mentality!! if you dont like a person, you can always find drawbacks of him even if he achieved everything in his field. he is perfect in cricket. then you cant blame him about his play thats why u stupids blame like this.... playing for personal...hahaha. get a life man...go away.
We can not blame Tendulkar but the media obviously has to be blamed. Why give so much mileage to Sachin's 50th century when the country has lost by a huge margin. There is too much obsession with Sachin and this is not good for the game. The game and the country are taking a backseat while Sachin is enjoying the limelight. It is eaxctly like Rajnikanth and his movies. The story, the music, the co-stars are of no relevance, it is only and only about Rajnikanth
Re: Media is to be blamed
by Aneesh Ramachandran on Jan 05, 2011 04:23 PM
hey stupid bengali... 50 century is more important than india's win. if you dont know any cricket, please try to read this article fully. then you will get an idea. fool.
