And how does it matter anyway? Most of these matches are watched on the TV. Atleast now there will not be a baseless political propaganda about skimpily clad cheerleaders! The tournament is happening outside India.
Rather than cancelling IPL it is good that it is being scheduled late & in SA. As a true cricket lover I will watch the matches at any time. So no matter for me.

It depends on the context. Compared to parliament election, IPL shouldn't even be getting any coverage whatsoever. We will be ruled for 5 years by those who come to power after elections. It is much bigger than cricket let alone IPL.
Sonniaji hit a last ball SIX (First approving the changed schedule of IPL, then at last moment refusing security via her Kangress govt in Maharashtra & AP)
This is all politics. IPL promised to hold the matches only on non-election days (2 days after election). So actually the paramilitary forces would have already been present & deployed & well-rested. No need to transport them from their base. But, BCCI is headed by Sharad Pawar of NCP, so Congress was always trying to pull the rug under his feet. After Kangress came to power in Rajasthan, Lalit Modi lost the BCCI election.
Now Maharashtra & AP (both ruled by Kangress) at last minute went back on promise to provide security & so IPL is kicked out of India.
The message that goes out is India cant host International games (just like Pakistan) coz its not safe.
So in the match between Kangress & NCP: Losing Captain: Sharad Pawar Man-of-match: SONNIA MADDAM for her last ball Sixer. (First approving the changed schedule of IPL, then at last moment refusing security via her Kangress govt in Maharashtra & AP)
But the real loser: INDIA Only happy spectator: PAK
It is bit of shame that a domestic tournament will be hosted outside India. In the view of the fact that the tournament date clashes with Election, I think it should have been re-scheduled. The media in the UK and other countries are sending a wrong message to the sporting world that the tournament will be hosted abroad mainly due to security concerns. When IPL goes against Govt decision, how on earth BCCI is going to host the world cup this time. I am very disappointed and will not support this year tournament
The reason why the Govt of India had to say NO to security is due to YOU FANS, who have created GODs out of cricketers. Had Indian ppl been sensible in the past and not allowed such a thing to happen, then Cricket would also have been "just another sport along with others'. It is YOU the ppl of India who are to be blamed for this mess, not Govt of India or the BCCI. Looking from Govt Of India's poinbt of view, election is more important than any cricket show or a film premier- thats right thing to think. Democracy takes much higher pedestal than sports and thats how it should be in any country.. Can you imagine a tournament or sports event taking place right after 9/11.. no way. It would be the same YOU people who would lambast the Govt, if the IPL was held in India and some terrorist act took place. India is not SA where population is problem.. managing such a big election takes a lot. Now Thinking from BCCI's point of view.. any prudent businessman would have done the same thing (BCCI is a mere profitable organization whose main agenda is PROFIT.. not hunting local talent..as it says in its media publications.. now lets ask them how can they not allow ICL--- atleast ICL was held in INdia and it looks out for local talent... how many new faces have played for India since that last edition (i can count one- Ravindra Jadeja)... what happened to rest.. are they not worth it .. no .. it is all about MONEY.. so DONT BLAME ANY BODY but YOURSELF.. GOD BLESS INDIA

your argument is part right part stupid. Every country has some sport which the majority of its citizens relate to. Thus, idolizing a not only restricted to people of India and even though seems immature, it could actually be motivating to some to achieve better and bigger dreams. Thus, I don't see a reason for people not to follow cricket and love cricketers. As far as IPL being pushed out is concerned, I totally agree with you that for a democracy, elections is the first priority and is much bigger than cricket, let alone IPL.
For god sake don't curse IPL it is because of the politicians wants people for their elction meeting so not allowing IPL to go a head & finally IPL WON WON WON IN great style by coducting in South Africa at 4 pm & 8 pm every day that means again no one willbe going to attend the politicians meeting HAhahaha......
