IPL in South Africa

This is all money-politics. I don't understand what is happening. Sharad Pawar, the BCCI President, is a part of the Indian government too. Why there could not be proper communication between the government and BCCI for arriving at mutualy acceptable dates for the tournament? For BCCI, money being churned out of IPL is more important than prestige of the nation and national sports. Will there be public to see the Indian stars? Chricket matches held at neutral venues attract very few spectators. In all probability, matches would be plyed in empy stadiums for the TV viewers.

It was totally wrong decision to shift IPL out of India. It is the might and right of great Mr Lalit Modi which made this happen and deprived the millions of cricket lovers of this country of great cricket. He has prooved his point that he is more powerful than the Union Govt.

Why blame Modi.It is not Modi's ego.It is adamency of Govt.of India and politics which has resulted in shifting the venue. No doubt it is a great loss to India as a whole.

It is completely a wrong decission to shift the IPL outsied India.Govt.of India and the Home Ministry in particular are to be blamed for this. The sweet talikng Home Minister should have shown much more maturity in dealing with security to IPL. By not able to provide security he has clealy admitted that the country is not able to handle threats.I think there are some extraneous considerations in this whole issue. It is not what we see and read in the media. Both Mr.Modi and Mr.Chidambaram should come clean in the eyes of the Indian public. Clearly the Indian Public is taken for a ride by the authorities concerned

It is only politics and the vested interest of certain individuals, that is spoiling sports in India. I do NOT understand one point - if the league is going to be held in S.A., why should the name "Indian" feature in the name. It should be SAPL and NOT IPL. Am I right?

Was it right to move the IPL out of India?

I do not think staging of the IPL event out of India is right. Shifting is totally incomprehensible.

The event is the brain child of India, sponsored by BCCI and the Indian promoters with majority of Indian cricketers participation for the entertainment of Indian crowd.

Further it is a money spinner and a good business opportunity in these bad days of recession.

Certainly the elections are more important than IPL. But both parties played very very poor cricket in settling the issue. I am sure there was lot of politics and tit for tat involved in this episode.

Neither of them cared for the Indian Cricket or the public or for India.

It is repeat of the fighting among the Rajas during pre-independence days. Because of this squablle the event has gone out of India. Why should we hand over a platter the benefits of holding the event to SAfrica or England?

Further, there will be clamour from many vested interests to hold many other events outside India. Already, Australia has asked for shifting the Davis Cup from India.

India will be fighting with itself all the time and self-inflicting injuries; there is no need external of sources.

It is not a big deal. IPL is not the pride of India or identity, It is conglomeration of few Modis who are doing business through cricket and our millions of cricket crazy youths are emotionally exploited by wasting their valuable money, time and energy. Rather Criket is the only game which has caused an irreparable loss to nation. We can not ban but we should treat it at par with other sports. So it is good that it is not held in India. If Lalit Modi is really a patriot then he could have postponed it or preponed it.As he knows very well that April/May is the election months in India. It is unfortunat that anothe Modi the muslim slaughterer is making politics out of it.

come what may, no pakistani players should be allowed to play in IPL even if the venue is outside India. Knight riders or royals should do without those players or else IPL should be banned.

I think nobody should watch IPL games (On TV) that are played outside India.
Playing IPL outside of India is like Aapne Ghar ka diya padosi ke ghar ko roshni deta hai.

There is certainly more hype than sense. Okay, cricket is a national game but certainly the elections are far more inmportant. Yes, there is a loss of money for the airlines, hotels etc..but what if there is a security issue..who will answer then. Ofcourse, the media is front paging and headlining this IPL because they all have vested interests and lots of money riding on this game, maybe that fair as well. I am a cricket lover and play the game as well but I think this is all blown out of proportion by all the interests of Industry to glamour to media and the game. And lets not forget this is more entertainment than a game. And do we all figure out who are being taken for a ride ?? Its the public...who neither get to watch a good game or a silly entertainment...and let us all not forget when industry spend heavily on advertising it all added up into the products...and there are plenty of parents and students who have to get ready for important exams getting distracted with this silly hoopla....

Do not play in India.

Cricket is madness played like daily three shows in theatre - it is over entertaining business. Be outside India only.
