IPL fad

IPL is a shameless display of money-making, not of excellence in games and sports. The auction of players was quite vulgar. If the 20-30 matches now planned are good, why not have 365 matches ? This needs to stop. The game of cricket has lost all its charm, glory and prestige, and it has become dirty business. In a way, it seems desirable to curtail this curse.

ELECTIONS ARE OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE
by sizzler sizzler on Mar 06, 2009 10:41 PM  | Hide replies

The person who thinks that Mr. P Chidambaram is just joking when he says that IPL should be postponed, are really out of there mind or traitors. Mr. Lalit Modi, irrespective of which political party he hails from, is a selfish businessman who would put to stake even national security for fulfilling his international commitments, and that too for the games which are nothing but high-stake gambling in the garb of T20 cricket. What do you think Mr.Modi was doing in Macau of all the places?

BUT AT THE SAME TIME Mr LALIT MODI SHOULD ALSO GO FOR SEPERATE INTELLIGENCE & FORCES EXPENDITURE FOR IPL MATCHES , BECAUSE APART FROM INDIAN GOVT IT IS AN EQUAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE IPL ALSO TO ENSURE PROPER SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS & IN ANOTHER WAY IT WILL ALSO GENERATE EMPLOYMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SECURITY AGENCIES DURING THIS RECESSION PERIOD.

OPERATION SABOTAGE IPL

Given these circumstance, there is no doubt that holding IPL is fraught with risks, especially along with the inexplicable long drawn one month of elections. But at the same time will it be wise for the govt. to bow to dictates of Terror ! Earlier the English tour was called off in the middle. After IPL, hosting of CW Games will be the next big event. There is likely that if not in India there will be more such terror strikes in Pakistan given the terror scenario there. Should we call off CW Games also then.? The decision will be tough and execution even tougher but the govt. should exert every bit not to give into TERROR. However, even if the govt. clears, can BCCI be sure of maximum participation by the Aussies, Kiwis, Brits etc ? Thus, apart from the security and govt. angle , BCCI should now seriously think of making IPL more inclusive agenda whereby the other Cricketing Boards also share the GOLDMINE to get their ready co-operation and avoid such heartburns.
