IPL should not clash any with elections, it must me resheduled after 6 months, and one more important thing is the money spend on security must be taken from IPL / owner of the team as it is totally entertainment event.

Hi Jess, Do you think India is some failed state or banana republic or beduin state that became rich after the oil find. If we can not protect just 140 int. players when they come for cricket, then how can you protect our valuable assets and nuclear installation. 26/11 happened due to the state congress govt of Maharashtra due to laid back attitude of its then rulers. No body can harm us when we take precautions. If we develop cold feet like this, the cricketers of other countries will definitely miss it. If Sri Lanka was worried about the quarter century of LTTE attacks and suicide bombers, they could have not produced jayasuryas, Sangajaras, jayawardenas, Ranatungas and other great cricketers. Jess do not freighten our Politicians, especially UPA bunch who are already self centered and least think about our country's image. I feel we should ask Pranab Mukharjee, who has his head in the right place out of the lot. He can solve the imbraglio. Lalit Modi is in not on UPA side in Rajasthan and Pawar is giving some night-mares to UPA in Maharashtra. Perhaps this drama is simple politics or an ploy to put them in a tight spot to get them on the track. Or simply some money for the election may be the question

Dear Chandra, With due respect to your thoughts, may I stress the importance of protecting the nation before wasting security on these sportsmen. IPL can wait for a year but certainly not the elections. If Lalit Modi is so concerned about the safety of players, then he might as well hire private security.

IPL should be postpoed to after Lok Saha Elections
by syamala vedanarayanan on Mar 05, 2009 07:15 PM

Country should come first before anything else, even the IPL. After the Lahore attack, India and Indian spectators will be sitting ducks for the Al Qaeda, JeT and other Pakistani Trained Terrorist Groups. The Home Minister is correct in suggesting the postponement of IPL. So what if the BCCI, IPL Franchises, TV Broadcasters lose money. After all they have earned quite a lot last year.
Are the BCCI and IPL Franchises putting their Game before the safety and security of the country and the Indian nationals? They should think seriously. I feel the Govt should be firm in its stand and compel the IPL to postpone their Game to June/July.

No, strongly no.

I dont understand whether IPL officials are either Shylock(only thinking of money involved or shall I say lost if series stands canceled) or they are so stupid that they think that just by blocking all check points they will be able to avoid the inevitable,if these people decide to hit someone.Come on guys, the battles are often fought on grounds but seldom won without minds. Its utterly foolish to assume that by keeping a two days break you will be able to give a perfect security cover.
Reacting to a situation is the easy part, understanding it is a lot tough and can only be done with an involved and dedicated mind just to one single cause.

IPL matches
by manoj parmar on Mar 05, 2009 07:03 PM

Why do we need extravaganza Like IPL? The whole world is passing through recession. In such scenerio basic issues need to be foocussed. What is IPL? What about these figures of 8 crores to one player? Such money show is not affordable in our country.

IPL should be a day match
by srinath mohan on Mar 05, 2009 07:03 PM  | Hide replies

I suggest IPL should go on and it should be a day match instead of Day-Night. Simply wasting lot of Power that too on Summer time when power cuts are on its high time.

i agree with u as far as power cut problem is concerned but as of now we are also having problem regarding security of players and if ipl matches come along with elections then security should more focussed on elections rather than ipl matches so ipl should be postponed

IPL Should not be held during elections
by Shiv Kumar on Mar 05, 2009 07:02 PM

We should think of broad perspective of the situation. Please allow security to be focused on Election. When there is a acute shortage for security personel and infrastructure, do you really provide good security to the IPL players and accountable if any undue incidence.
