If young players cannot do best, then selectors will be no choice to recall them. Selectors have given enough chance to prove their games but if they fail, selectors cannot do anything and they have no option by calling old players. Keep it up Selectors.

fyi Sunny scored 36 not out in 60 overs ! That statement itself shows that u just keep repeating it without knowing the facts...facts including the situtation due to which he deliberately played that way - Sunny belonged to a bunch of cricketers who were against ODIs and felt that would undermine the interests and affect the future of Test Matches (just like there are debates today about T20) and the said innings was a mark of protest which every person worth his salt knows except a few ignorant ppl who keep mouthing inane statements repeatedly about the 36 not out !

Politics of BCCI - Dravid a blue eyed Boy
by Raja Bas on Aug 18, 2009 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

Look at the poitics played by BCCI - Sourav was dropped from the Test team for a single bad tour in Sri Lanka where everyone except Viru Failed. At that point of time Darvid was having a torrid time and he was guy who should have been dropped - But BCCI did choose Ganguly and dropped him from Irani Squad. He played against the asussies on BCCI terms and needless to say did well. Now in ODIS both of them were dropped becuase BCCI was buliding a team for future 2011 WC. OK - Point taken. The ODI team did well except one or two blips here and there - Now what exactly happened , that the team who has succeeded in Sri Lanka , Australia , New Zealan in their home soil suddenly need Dravid to help them out ? It is simply politics - Now all the crap of buliding a team has gone out of the Window - Dravid is back as Mr Srinivisan wants him and No need to take back Sourav as he has already retired. I hope darvid does well - He is a good player. But BCCI is the biggest Joker of our country

i think BCCI has given dravid chance to play one day cricket, but i think dravid has good player, but now a days young player much more important, bcci has choose young player , because 2011 world cup is our country, dravid age is 35 , he is test player, BCCI has last one year not a single test play by india. i think dravid last chance, we miss sehwag,

Sachin no holy cow

Selectors need to be consistent. If age is a criteria, then it must be uniformly applied. Also, the notion that Sachin will one day decide to hang his boots is incorrect; he will have to be shown the exit. We, as Indians, need to learn to draw the line somewhere.

Vineet, you seem to be sick...A player of Sachin's Caliber has not been produced by india or any other country in last more than two decades. it is bloody your privelege to witness his game. Else moron like you would have seen politicians like Dhoni and yuvi. You talk about youth, what the hell they possess. just one match wonder. See the track record of Dravid, Ganguly and Sachin, no one comes even closer to match them. These youngsters should first prove on domestic circuit and then consistently in international arena. Take the example of Robin Utthapp, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and many more who showcased their metal in a couple of matches and now in the stardom and stly world they are lost. Dhoni is no different from them. because of dhoni, more potential guys like karthiks are sacked and now as he know that he is secure, how drastically his game has gone down.

Rohit - Talent?
by Arun on Aug 18, 2009 09:46 AM  | Hide replies

Do u risk in including Rohit, Kohli and other uncapped players for such an important tournamant like theChampions Trophy? Just think of what rohit has achieved? In 41 matches he has scored just 695 runs at an low average of 24. He has got enough chances to prove himself. How did he use those chances? Do u aware of what happened in world T20 and in WestIndies? How many more chances do u wish to give him? If so, will he prove himself in atleast some 150 matches or 4 years? Already he has played around 41 matches. and just 4 fifties with no single century and just 24 as average.
Do u want to include Rohit in the team just simply because he is a youngster and with so called talent? Talent-- I dont see any.

India is a country of a billion and our domestic circuit is decent enough. We have got a lot of players better than Rohit and others. We have to identify them and they are the ones who should be given the fair chance, but still not in this high profile tounament and no more time left. I am sure Kris Srikanth will know about this and thats why he has selected the best possible team. I am sure Kris will definitely identify and test these immensely talented players in future tournaments slowly but carefully.

i agree with the extarct from Arun, but at the same time i disagree that Rohit does not possess talent. what i wud suggest is ti show him doors for some time just as we did to Suresh raina and Yuvi and we later on got more compact and accomplished palyers. Dravid for the moment is man of the moment. Cheer Dravid.

Common Sense
by Apoorve on Aug 18, 2009 09:44 AM

Dravid was dropped when he was'nt doing well. Now he is picked as he is doing well. The selectors (at least in this case) were correct back then and they are right today too.I understand the point you are trying to make here about the 2011 dream and it makes sense too. But in the end common sense prevails..... Good performing players should be in the team and the ones who don't should not be.
