Dravid 25      8       6       11       1.33
he led Team India very well on the England tour as well. Didn't we win the Test series on the English soil under him after two decades? Can there be a better proof of his leadership qualities?

Another scapegoat
by raj on Sep 20, 2007 08:46 AM

Dravid has become scapegoat for poor attitude from Indian Board ,media & people. The problem with cricket fans is , we don't want to accept facts about our team strenths and try to look at wrong reasons for the failure.
We believe in heroism and expect captain to do wonder with bunch of average cricketers and few good one too .
A simple fact if we look at take out Sachin, Saurav & Dravid's contribution. Have we won anything? That shows the reality that there is no second string. So we expect to fail more times than win. Until that weak link is addressed there will not be any improvement in the team india performance.
Today it is Dravid and tomorrow it would be Dhoni in scapegoat seat. THe forum will be same . the cursing will be same. Just Dravid will be replaced by Dhoni.
Let us think beyond captain.FIrst we need good team then captain can do something

Reality

Dravid being a keen observer of the game was absolutely correct when he made made those remarks abut Indian bowling. The proof was there to see when we could not get Englishmen out after a day and 1 session. Apart from this we have always seen the Indian loosing early wickets and Dravid had to come time and again to save the situation, not once or twice but on numerous occasion. One has to go back and see how Zaheer khan has failed to perform in the early stages of Dravid's Captaincy particularly the first time when we were in the finals at Srilanka after Dravid took over and also in the mnatch against Australia at Kolkata. Both we should have won comfortably. There are several instances like this. Those who have seen the media controlled by a particular section always vouchng for Sourab did everything( even they spent i hour prime time for Sourab on the previuos day of Dhoni's selection)to disturb Dravid , aworld class player which Sourab is not. Atleast the Chappell realised that because he has nothing to do with politics. He was the one along with Dravid to suggest Dhoni's name for Future Captaincy. How true things have come?

The whole concept of the same article is a mess

"famous Test victory in England"
Could someone please mention any contribution of smart, aggressive and positive captaincy in the same? I don't think anyone could say anything about it, except murmuring.

Leave it, the smart captaincy and the smart Coaching's extra-bonanza already has sparkled to make the 'Best Ever' show of India in world cup. Everyone was going hard over him because of lots of reasons and those reasons were enough to make others loosing faith in his style of captaincy as in this period, we might have got any victory then at least captaincy was not the one to get credits.

It was horrible to see that how one could spoil a must get victory for getting only 25-30 runs more. Neither any justification was at that time , when He called Sachin back from 194, nor this time. The nation can't bear these kind of mysterious decisions and if the same is some kind of class, then please spare us from the same. God has shown grace to us by kicking out Chappel and if Dravid was continued then he was the next. Better he didn't made us loose a great batsman from the team by choosing to step down.

While talking about the environment of Dressing Room, someone is forgetting that Cricket doesn't get played inside Board Meeting rooms or in dressing rooms and the environment over the field matters most. And for the same Dravid was contributing well, by insanely insisting over the name of Sehwag, so that a friend could get some bucks.

16 in 96 don't create a dressing room.

It only shows the politics in cricket.

To have their own man BCCI has opted out for Dravid.

May be they were not knowing that Sachin may refuse or the demands of Sachin were much more.

Dhoni is a scapegoat and in all probabilty will loose his place in team as there is no one in the BCCI from that region to support him.

Ganguly is considered as the successful captain as there was Bengal superemo in the command of BCCI followed by the media to hype his achievemnt. Some media commentators from the day one Dravid took the charge of Captain were behind him.

Dravid has two overseas series victory and test victory not only in SouthAfrica but the first test won on the Pakistani soil was under his captaincy.

May be he would have prolonged if there would have been support for him from BCCI and media.

If the present trend continues in BCCI, you can see the future of Indian Cricket in terms of Hockey where also this thing is happening for last few years.

One should salute the remarkable achievemnts attained during his captaincy.

One must remember

It was also not the first time India was out of the world cup in the first leg. You can look for the results in 1975 and 1979 .
the team then was full of the playes who today holds some good positions and give authoratative comments on ODI.
