it seems the dravid will retire soon
by psycho on Sep 19, 2007 11:49 AM  | Hide replies

he was a good captain on his own right
people start comparing every indian captain with ganguly.
this is not fair
both had there own style and both of them are diffrent personality.
see waugh and pointing , both are totally different.
finally it's the team that's imp to win matches.
a team can't win matches only with the help of captain.
any how it is good that he resigned
he is not enjoying the game , it seems
i think he will retire in a year or so.

Dravid will be remembered as the strongest of world batsmen (even ahead of Sachin Tendulkar in this respect) and honest of captains dravid most succesful odi captain and his perfromance as captain recognised by icc won the cap for icc test captain team and nominted by icc test captain award. Icc nomination done by int%u2019l cricketers not by ind players media managers or dirty ind politicians.dravid had most % odi winning average and most successful odi captain. Team won 18 odi matches by chasing and under dravid team did not loose any odi series. Also historic test win in SA, series win against WI after 32 yrs that too with out ganguly and tendulakr and nowseries win in England. Dravid managed team without coach and some senior players and chief selector never supported or respected his captaincy. Media always biased to dravid captain and batsman. Dravid not only best batsman but better captain and left captaincy with winning note holding his head high. He was not cowrd or spineless as some ex crickets projected. He ws forced to resign and victim of dressing room politics.
dravid played under azar, sachin, gnaguly and gave 100% for team cause performed under pressure against strong bowling attack on foreing ptiches many times. But did not get the support of his teammates statistics proved dravid did good job as captain but ditched by some of his teammates
Why bcci did not appoint a coach after chappell resignation ?Why bcci changed so many vice captains in last 2 yrs?/

Guess, Who will make a good captain?
by vaibhav kumar on Sep 18, 2007 02:56 PM  | Hide replies

LET US PRAISE DRAVID FOR WHATEVER HE COULD HAVE DONE AND OFFER TO INDIAN CRICKET. HE IS A GENTLEMAN CRICKETER AND SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR THAT. A CAPTAIN PROBABLY IS MORE DEMANDING A JOB FOR HIS LIKING AND EXECUTION.

Revisit, Sachin, Saurav, Dhoni, Yuvraj and Karthik, for probable post.

First, none of them is extraordinary in true sense. Sachin and Saurav have left behind their prime years and can only hold on for a couple of seasons. ive: They are seasoned campigners.

Second, Dhoni, can make a good leader provided he keep the same level of batting and keeping abilities along with handling the team, which seem improbable. ive: Cool head, but need to learn to be assertive and demanding at times, the qualities which Dravid failed miserably. Also need to take out the gloves and focus more on staying as a batsman in the team. DHONI should not become yet another SEHWAG.

Now Third, and out of the box.
1. Think about YUVI.
When do you feel that you can get best out of an extremely talented but raw and wayward youth?. Give them the ownership, engagement and accountability, and they will tell you that they have become men from kids. Yuvi is one such versatile talent.

2. Think about KARTHIK
When do you feel that person standing next to you is never say die spirit and harbor a body language, which motivates you like others. Karthik represent that youthfulness.

But I know the answer, as much as you all, probably. But my pick is Saurav for test and Yuvraj for ODIs

Dravid is a gentleman and intelligent too!. fans have forgoten how previous three cptains gangoo, Azar and sachin have been humiliated when they were told they were no more captaing Indian team. Dravid cleverly anticipated this. he is going out of this role with his head held high. Kudos Dravid we respect u. u have done india prode on numereous accations when we played on forign fast pitches. good luck gentleman

Dravid left India in the lurch to prove a selfish point.
by sudhir dhar on Sep 18, 2007 04:38 AM  | Hide replies

Selectors have always backed the captain. If the selectors wanted Dravid could have been sacked immediately after the World Cup. There was so much claimer for that, but they did not give in.

It just shows that he wanted to win a series (England) and then move out. It was as if he wanted to prove a point. The Australia tour will be the toughest in recent times, probably he does not want to face failure.

Dravid resigned after expressing his opinion on the selection of the India 'A' team. He wanted a former India opener to be tried out before the away series against Australia.

Which clearly PROVES THAT DRAVID WANTED TO PRESSURISE PAWAR WITH HIS RESIGNATION, THINKING PAWAR/BCCI WILL PLEAD HIM TO RECONSIDER, BUT INSTEAD PAWAR, DID NOT PUT UP WITH DRAVIDS NONSENSE AND SAID-"I respect his decision."

Rest is history.

hi
Don't just blame mumbaikars yaar!!
Politics is everywhere. Politics is & was present in indian cricket all the time. Don't forget Dalmiya's period.
Frankly speaking selectors should ask dravid to continue with Test captancy. I think he is much better captian than ganguly. Given the conditions he has done a great job.
Must say very unselfish person cos nobody in india leavs such high-profile positions that to after winning a test series abroad.

Kaif as Captain
by Kashif Ibrahim on Sep 17, 2007 08:34 PM  | Hide replies

Now you will say he dont have a place in team. I ask WHY NOT? If you can play Kartik (averaging 23) and Gambhir (avg 26) then why not Kaif(avg 34). He is a great maretial for captain, Its not me but the records say that way, HE HAS ALWAYS LEAD THE TEAM TO VICTORY. Only 2 days ao his team defeted the South Africa 'A' side, to give you more knowledge the S.Africa team had 6 players which are currently in South Africa Test squad and India 'A' had only Kaif as a InterNational player. Before that he came with overseas victory over international sides of Kenya, Zimbabwe with his India 'A', which aain dont have potential players. "A Good Captain is the one who make ordinary bunch of players perform like an extraordinary unit".. This quality lies in Kaif.
OK.. Mr. Dravid has resigned, he is a great player no doubt. Tendulkar should not take this chance and will then he will be called as greatest(like Sonia Gandhi). Yuvraj is not a cool head person. Dhoni can be a good choice for the 20-20 Skipper. But Kaif should be given the responsibility to show that he can also do it at the international level like he has done superbly with India 'A', under 19 (Won the U-19 world cup), and Domestic (Champion Ranji Trophy, with a lowly U.P. Team).

Dravid's resignation
by Parthasarathy Ganguly on Sep 17, 2007 05:40 PM

One thing that one regrets about Pawar is that he is making Dalmia look a saint! That may not be difficult if one has Pawar as a standard

Clinton with his tricks made Bush look like a saint. One knows what happened thereafter.

Wonder what Pawar will bring upon BCCI.

BCCI is beginning to look like Bombay Cricketers Control India.

If BCCI wants to "Kar ke dekhana", they have done pretty well:
Tendul-kar, Agar-kar, Manjre-kar, Gavas-kar,

Give me Punjab-CCI any day

p. ganguly

Selfish Sachin wants the captaincy. Deal behind doors of the dirty BCCI.
by C Kr on Sep 17, 2007 03:40 PM

Elbowed Dravid out. Tendulkar can't imagine ending career without being captain again. He wants to end as captain, and there isn't much time. This picture is very murky, and there is so much more behind the scenes.

Making a big show of 'deciding' whether to take up the offer. What a b'stad. He should also quit from the game. That will make it better.

These sick bstads will play any politics and do anything to stay in power. Look at rogue-like faces of the BCCI crooks. Should be lined up and imprisoned.

Is it gentlemanly to resign before the Australian series, just to protect ones personal record?

Is a ICC#8th West Indies team not a minnow?

Is it gentlemanly to drop SSanth, just because he upset Petersen by bowling a accidental beamer?

IS IT GENTLEMANLY..NOT TO RESIGN AFTER WORLD CUP HORROR OF 2007?

Hey guys... Dravid is a real hero.. He resigned because he was pressurised to use a NON-USEFUL .. Non-materialistic Agar-kar. Vensar-kar also pressured him about his decision.... not to enforce follow on... its really stupid to blame dravid since its a TEAM's Desicion. Ok.. if BCCI feels that, its not good by dravid to leave they should have asked him to stay little longer and should give him the team he wants.. because its he WHO will be blamed if the team fails.. so give him his team.... not agarkar...

Today Indian Team worse performance is a gift from Dravid-Chappel duo.

show sustained intensity and that cannot be blamed that on Dravid alone.

Dhar, people like you, who broadcast for the sake of broadcasting and prefer blame-games to problem-solving, are a big reason why we aren't progressing as a country as fast as we should. I'm quite a non-violent fellow but if I saw you on the street, I'd like punch your face in.

Lol... ok Kush maybe my choice of words wasn't the best because I'm blaming people too. It's just very frustrating to see a country this big not being able to get its act together in a single sport and I'm blaming our bureaucratic establishment for that.

Personally, I see cricket as just a sport and it's cricketers as athletes. There is no need to build them up into gods or trash them for losing one game. When more of us start realising that, we would pave the way for a more professional setup and that would give us a better chance of winning games.

Can't see it happening in near future so when once in a while someone like typical Babu material Dhar, who could well become BCCI secretary one day given his attitude, rears his head and spouts trash from that orifice he calls mouth, something has to be said.
