Do not worry! Dravid will soon score a double century in coming series and show why he is considered a wall of Indian Cricket. BCCI played enough politics by not giving him the team that he wanted. Also, BCCI had put Dravid under lot of pressure by not heeding to his demand of a media manager and sending him to England without a coach. Dravid is a honest and a true gentleman. He had a vision but that vision did not get enough support. He has left gracefully with a great captaincy record. He should now just concentrate on his batting and score couple of double centuries.

Dravid a great batsman, but not a great captain!
by Juzer H on Sep 16, 2007 05:44 PM  | Hide replies

Just like Azim Premji is not a great IT Engineer, but a good a manager of resources; a good captain of a cricket team does not have to be a great batsman or a great bowler.
These days, India 'A' team is winning more consistently than the Team India.
Reason? Good Captain, Young players and good fielders.
We all know cricket is a TEAM game, and to have a GOOD CAPTAIN is very important for winning the matches. Compare to the Team Performance, Individual performances do not matter much for the Team Victory.

Yes talking about India 'A', Kaif is the lead there. Why the hell we forgot him, why do we have Karthik and Gambhir in and not Kaif.. see the averages
Matches Average
Kaif 120 34
Karthik 25 24
Gambhir 40 28

Please suggest who is better?

This horrible Dravid supporter does not use capital letter to start a proper noun. You will not find a single correct sentence above.
If Ganguly can successfully use politicians for getting justice to him, there is no harm. If Dravid runs away from captaincy for improving his game it is nobody%u2019s fault.
Lamenting like a beggar will not achieve anything. If you have capacity to turn the tide against and snatch justice, do that.

Dear Sengupta, why can't a bengali tolrate anything against Ganguly. Do you people have copyright of Ganguly. We also like him as player as we do in case of Sachin, Dravid or Dhoni, but you fellas just care for you bengaliness. Your all liking and disliking depends on regionalism. If all people of India become like Bengalis, there will be nothing but a civil war.

Rahul Dravid's resignation
by Sashi Rao on Sep 16, 2007 03:11 PM  | Hide replies

It is obvious what has prompted Dravid to opt out . This is due to the vicious backroom politics and lack of support by the 2 ex captains Tendulkar and Ganguly and abetted by the Chairman of selectors Vengaskar and the indifferent attitude of Sharad Pawar.
Dravid's record as captain speaks for itself. This has come despite the lack of support from Tendulkar and Ganguly, while Dravid gave his life and blood during their captaincy.Yes, Tendulkar and Ganguly did reasonably well during the onedayers- but their motivation was personal driven and not for the Team India as a whole.
This whole thing stinks! This Maharashtrian clique ( with full support from that other Maharastrian Gavaskar who believes that they can do no wrong). Did you note how Gavaskar defended Agarkar for dropping a a sitter in the Indo- Pak match and blaming Harbhajan who was far away !
The fact that Agarkar continues in the team despite his repeated failures is shocking to say the least! It may be no wonder if part of Agarkar's match fees goes back to Tendulkar, Vengaskar/Pawar and maybe Gavaskar also !!!

I wonder if this Agarkar case was one of the prime reasons for Dravid to give up for he is no David to fight Goliath !!

Our Dada will make mincemeat of australian bowling need not worry.

He will directly look into eyes of Brett Lee Tait etc. agressively. They fear Dada. And in mean time Tendulkar Dravid Laxman Uthappa will score runs against them.

As usual bowling will get thrashed but then Ranadeb will come and beat Ponting and others. Ganguly will catch diving. Every thing will be allright. And if these Lee and Tait & company do not get disturbed by Dada's agressive postures we shall keep two cammondos around Dada so they wont show any agression towards Dada. And what for afterall the shirt is he will wave it around. If situation goes beyond control don%u2019t worry he is great leader pant is also at his disposal.

If Dada gets into trouble with Hayden or Symonds like strong men still he will use his Super intelligence. He keeps spinach like in Popeye show.in his pocket he will eat it and then zoom%u2026.. Hayden or Symonds or anybody are gone with the wind%u2026%u2026

If this thing fails plan B will come into picture. We shall call Australians at Eden Gardens and boo them. If they show finger or any thing we shall call Naxalites to do the job.

plan C We will ask all NDTV Times now cameramans specially bengali journos to edit cut those shots to inspire Indians. Still if the things fail we shall call Boria Mujumdar to Disfigure all stats and show that we have actually won against Australia.

Is it not simple? Then why do you spoil your peace over this team?

Dada was a good captain but lot of Myths have been created by some fanatic Dada supporters. Some stupid politicians say that Ram is a myth. I say that Dada's captaincy is a big Myth. He should be made captain again so that his Myth is exposed again to people. The fact is that Dada's captaincy had become so bad that he had to be removed from the captaincy. His foolish aggressiveness resulted in frequent match fines and suspensions from international matches.

ganguly may be a good captain
but he was really bad in batting.
i think he reaaly struggle for about 2 yrs.
opposition bowler were lining up when ganguly was out to bat
really , even tailender was able to defend his wicket better than ganguly.
infact thay use to score more runs than ganguly and were more reliable.i.e atleast they scores 10 runs consistently
ganguly was horrible.

captaincy
by sasi kumar on Sep 16, 2007 01:33 PM

Dravid was not a good captain, due to his recent shows in England especially the third test, all people knows,as a cricketer he is good but his captaincy is poor, not a positive thinker, so he might think a chance to avoid him as a captain, before that he resigned.

Tendulkar should not be made captainany more or he should not accept captaincy
by cebu jonas on Sep 16, 2007 01:24 PM

_________________________________
Tendulkar is on a timid patch, and extra burden of captaincy will ruin the fuel left in him, especially vs hard teams like Aus, SA..

And he stepped down once for the same reason, when captaincy slowed his batting down, same as Dravid (as he said)...

The best thing to do is make Ganguly captain of the team till the end of december - Aus home ODIs, SA home series...

Appoint Kaif vice captain in tests, Appoint Dhoni vice captain in ODIs...

Then for the Australian tour Ganguly must step down from captaincy India MUST make Mohammed Kaif Indian Test Captain, Karthik Vice captain...And Dhoni ODI captain, Yuvraj Vice captain...

Also Dravid & Kumble should not play ODIs...

Tendulkar should stop ODIs by India's Australian tour in January...

Ganguly & Sehwag should be selected on the basis of his performance only after the home season this year..

India must drop Agarkar..

Also India should show JUSTICE to S. BADRINATH & YO MAHESH by selecting them for Australian Tour...

GET A GOOD COACH FROM SOUTH AFRICA, WHO HAS BEEN CONNECTED WITH MODERN ERA CRICKET LIKE ANDREW HALL

Hype, Hoopla and a media circus!
by Aniruddha Sengupta on Sep 16, 2007 01:16 PM

A good cricket pro may have a life of around 10 to 12 years. Indian cricket has been blessed with some exceptional cricket players who are contemporaries. What is wrong in a guy being captain for 2 yrs. and then moving on? Rahul is an exceptional pro and instead of trying to see it in a positive light the media goes to town with a "crumbling wall" and other stories. Just because we are not used to seeing leaders - political, business or in any other field willingly demitting office, does not mean that an exceptional Indian pro should not take a different path. For god's sake allow people to do their own thing! Rahul Dravid, take a bow!

Sachin Would be the best New captain
by mahendra sharma on Sep 16, 2007 01:09 PM

BCCI should use sachin as Captain .
B'cos we want india to win . & Sachin is top scorer in last 3 series.he is the only inform & consistant batsman these days. Do doubt that Sachin is still The Best. that he already prooved in last series.no one in indian team near by sachin in last three series.so he shuold be make the captain ofIndian Team. if we want india to win, we need to have sachin as Captain in the team.he is the only who can give us victory.Sachin will be the best captain. because he has max. exeperience, & an all rounder ability

LET US RAISE OUR VOICE
by Kprabal on Sep 16, 2007 12:12 PM

It appears from what we are gathering from the media now is that Dravid had made his mind known to BCCI just after the world cup only.

In such a case BCCI should take the entire blame for of the situation Indian cricket in in today. They should have earmarked somebody as future captain then only so that bynow he would have been ready.

BUT I THINK THE BCCI UNDER SHARAD PAWAR IS BOTHERED ABOUT EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN EXCEPT THE STATE OF INDIAN CRICKET. IT IS SHARAD PAWAR WHO SHOULD BE SHOWN THE DOOR ALONG WITH HIS STOOGES.

IT IS UPTO US, THE CRICKET LOVERS TO RAISE OUR VOICE NOW IN UNISON AND CREATE PRESSURE ON THE ESTABLISHMENT SO THAT THEY ARE MADE ACCOUNTABLE AND ARE FORCED TO RUN THE BOARD PROFESSIONALLY.
