Those criticising Selection
by Crick fan on Oct 31, 2007 12:18 PM

Those who are today cricising the selctors should either shut up or apply for selctor position themselves. These guys will not let any one do their work properly. Why the hell you want Rahul playing in a horrible frame of mind, do you know what has he done in past 10 matches? A break from main stage will be good for Dravid and he can sort out his batting problem and be back. Try to appriciate some one when he is taking radical decision. Secondly Rahul Dravid will have his say in Test Matches and I am sure he will out shine all.

Dravid - Unselfish teamplayer
by Atal Advani on Oct 31, 2007 12:09 PM

there are some insane people who are doing this propaganda along with the media(which has no credibility or expertise to make such sweeping comments on cricket)that dravid has gone all over the batting order in order to accomadate other team players - nothing can be further from the truth he has gone all over the batting order in ODIs just to survive in the team. when india need 6 runs per over dravid is the last living being you think off ... so he is obviously sent all over the batting order he has been a LIABILITY to INDIA so please dont go by this unselfish player theory
there is no point in comparing him with tendu and gangu these two guys are totally different and much more talented than dravid

Just look at his face and body lingo ...its so demoralizing it demotivates me sitting in my drawing room ...shoulders drooping doesnt have a clue about whats going on in the feild...he reminds me of manmohan sing most of the times

apart from this political skills of colluding with chappel to become captain of india from a situation where ganguly had to drop partihv patel to force fit him into the team otherwise dravid would have become the second VVS Laxman forced into oblivion ..so he is a ball of slime adn is very capable of stabbing his friend on the back ....he is like brutus and DOES NOT DESERVE TO PLAY FOR INDIA

the moment i see him on TV I switch the channel saing oh god i dont wanna see this guy time for a nap ...he is a very negative and demoralizing influence on his fellow team mates
instead of tryig to bring dravid back we should try to get VVS laxman back poor guy very talented but weve forgotten about him

We dont need politicians
by Mature Stud on Oct 31, 2007 06:37 AM  | Hide replies

People like Shastri, dravid, sharad pawar, etc. etc. are not needed because they speak and do things which are aimed at meeting their own requirements only.

I am happy that Dravid is sacked, he is a very very bad influence and bad example of politics in the Indian cricket team.

There was absolutely no need for Ganguly to be sacked as a captain...clearly Dravid was a party to this; he colluded viciously with a few others to meet his own ends. Millions of people understand this role of Dravid and are happy that he is sacked.

Some people would still want to justify by showing some records that Dravid was a better captain, again they themselves including million others would know that it was ridiculous to think so.

If Ganguly is not a captain today, it is more a problem of our poor country than any thing else because by that it is proved that like many other issues politics still rules the roost without fairly judging the right vs the wrong.

I agree with your views on Dravid...Dravid was always a negative influence...this political person kept Ganguly and his followers out of team( Zaheer, Bhajji) .

Instead Dravid flooded the ODI team with undeserving southies like Venugopal rao, Dinesh Karthik, Sreesanth.

Dravid will be back in third ODI
by Sanjeev Verma on Oct 30, 2007 10:41 PM

CNN-IBN reports:

Rahul Dravid's forced sabbatical from the Indian cricket team may be short-lived. The former India captain may in fact be back as early as the third One-Dayer. Sources have told CNN-IBN that BCCI President Sharad Pawar isn't too happy about how Vengsarkar is handling senior players.

More than 72 hours have passed since the axe fell on Rahul Dravid but the controversy refuses to die down. Sources are now telling CNN-IBN that board president Sharad Pawar has had a word with chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar and asked him to clarify his policy with regard to senior players. And board officials are doing their best to douse the fire.

It is a fair decission.
by Dan Lewis on Oct 30, 2007 08:07 PM  | Hide replies

Dravids ousting was predictable. It will be boon for the team and may be for him as well. Instead of making consecutive failures in the field, this period of rest will allow dravid to think why he was so bad in the field for so long. If he proves his worth by performing well in the domestic cricket the way Gangulee did, he can always come back. We want those players who would perform well in the field. I don%u2019t see anything wrong if BCCI takes this stance.

Dravid had an average of 37 runs in 10 ODI matches that he played in England/Ireland. It is wrong to say that he has been out of form for very long period. His strike rate in NatWest series was 97 with an averge of 37 runs. His recent failures was flash in the pan. Even Gilchrist did not have very good series in India. It is quite possible that political games played had put considerable mental pressure on him. Also, he was bring asked to come from number 3-6 position.

Weep you Dravid fans...your cries on unfair selectors mean nothing...

You are the same hypocrites who rejoiced when Chappell unfairly removed Ganguly from Team India for his petty political reasons....

Yes you are right.. even Dravid scored unbeaten 92 runs with just 60s balls in the natwest serious then why he had dropped for T20. Dravid was failed exactly 2 matches only against australia serious. He did not bat in the first ODI and he came to bat after 35 overs remaining 2 ODIs and finally 7th ODI he was dropped in the name of rested.

This controversy basically shows the amount of respect Rahul Dravid commands among erstwhile cricketers. He has not made a single statement regarding his exclusion. He is not like many others who will boast regarding his past performances. He even commands respect from international cricketers like Ricky Ponting, Ian Bell, Haque etc. These cricketers rate him higher than Tendulkar. Few years back, he was named ICC and Wisden cricketer of the year award.

I think you're right. What I am not sure is about ganguly's performance after his return back in the team. Since his return, he has the wort strike rate in ODIs. He isn't a good fielder nor the better runner between the wicket. He should be preserve for the Test as well..
