I just can't seem to appreciate the motive behind this article. As far as my understanding goes, there must be some purpose behind writing an edit piece - this one's got 12 tables, and I wonder who on earth has the time to go through each of those tables. Even if someone does, at the end of it he doesn't get anything out of it. Get educated guys, people out there want some bit of editorial .. some judgement, bit of analysis, etc. Just not plain facts, and certainly not a whole lot of tables. Statisticians, especially those involved with cricket, can come up with better stuff. Grow up guys!

Why are you so agitated baby, is it because it is ganguly and not your idli-dosa Dravid? Who bothers if some imlees like you don't read it. It has value for people who love DADA and they are millions in number

Gopalkrisnan you are sadly mistaken. There are many who follow sporting statistics. Just look at the data and statistics generated Baseball and basketball. You just show your ignorance. Hundreds of people are writing commentaries, as you desire. Raw data also has a place under the sun.

Just to add to this, fact sheets/profiles like this are useful for guys who are new to the scene, certainly not for a guy who is about to play his 100th Test match. I for one can even in the middle of the night tell how many runs Ganguly has scored in which match ... I am sure, given the kind of status Sourav enjoys, there will be a lot many guys like me out there. Any takers?

For all those guys who think I'm a Ganguly basher. I'm a hard core fan of Dada ... ask him and he'll be able to vouch for that. I've worked with him and seen him from very close quarters, and admire the man's attitude. Wonder what made you guys think I'm a Dravid fan .. I won't deny I don't appreciate Dravid, but SCG first on my list .. followed by the rest.
And honestly, do profiles/fact sheets matter at this point in Ganguly's career? I don't think so .. I could tell you who dismissed him in which match and how he got dismissed ... Im such a hardcore fan of SCG. Hats off to the man!
Once I said, to me first comes myself, then my family, then my relatives, then my caste, then my region, my district, my state and then India, then world. My friend has ridiculed me and said partriotically "India comes first to him, then his state".
When I'm in rediff forum, I know what comes first to Indians.
These two will never learn..how monotonous they are -cursing only ganguly, the legend..even they are jealous with all his real stats and figures..this suman idiot must know that dravid the cheater is nowhere in terms of leadership and captaincy compares to ganguly. so suman shake ur booty well baby...
There was this dialogue from guru..."Jab log tumhaare khilaaf bolne lage, samaj lo tarakki kar rahe ho".. i guess ganguly has reached stardon like no one else..
The series saw Ganguly scoring a century in the First Test in Bulawayo, taking over 250 balls to accumulate his runs against an attack considered to be one of the worst in world cricket, which was severely depleted by the exodus of white players under the regime of Robert Mugabe. After his century, Ganguly made defiant comments to the media, in which he accused members of team management of trying to pressure him to resign as captain, although he would not name individuals
When the squad for the subsequent Test series against Sri Lanka was announced, Ganguly was included at the expense of paceman Zaheer Khan. At the time, BCCI chairman of selectors Kiran More justified the inclusion of Ganguly, as a "bowling all rounder", despite Ganguly's Test bowling average being above 50.
With the announcement of the team to tour arch rivals Pakistan in January 2006, Ganguly was again recalled to the Test team, with Kaif dropped. Leading up to the first Test in Lahore, this still left Ganguly appearing to be out of the team, with Yuvraj having recorded consecutive half-centuries. After a debate with Chappell and Dravid in the middle of the stadium before the start of the Test which was reported by observers to be heated, Ganguly found himself in the team, after specialist opener Gautam Gambhir was dropped to accommodate him, forcing Dravid to play as a makeshift opener along with Sehwag.

The fact is: one can love Ganguly, one can hate Ganguly, but none can ignore him. Can you or anybody for that matter? That's the hallmark of a great personality.Mind you, ther is no Dalmiya around. What is Ganguly today is entirely on his own act. Hope, Ganguly haters have understood by now!
